A take from the game. We need to start utilizing the FB once again.

I really liked how KSU used #34 in the passing game. I don't think Outz is as athletic as KSU's FB but I think he can cause damage coming out of the backfield or off the line.

I think Jalston Fowler was the last FB we really featured. It's time to fix that.

Saban has said that he hates having FBs because two tight end sets are better. We got into the I form once this season but motioned out of it before the snap. Nudie only got the playing time he did because FBs, begrudgingly to Saban, were necessary in old school offenses and he was an obscenely good FB. Outz gives us the chance to do it again and I want it to happen but I don't think Saban sees much of a role for the position going forward.

TE's are more difficult match up. Look at NFL, no FB's.

I just want us to throw the the running backs. Was a staple not too long ago.

Fullback and I formations are dead. Best we can hope for is getting back to running out of the pistol. Way to much running out of shotgun this year imo.

I like the flexibility that comes from using an H-back / tight end hybrid, and for that reason I'm fine not using a fullback.

But I hope and pray I NEVER see us line up in the shotgun on a fourth-and-inches play, as we did in the Texas game. That's just stupid. And for those who say "We never practice the under-center QB snap any more," my response is "We need to, for a few minutes each day, for just such an occasion."

One team (I think TCU) had a fourth-and-one play Saturday, and they put the QB under center and brought the tight end in motion. He settled right behind the QB and pushed him forward at the snap. Don't know why that type of play isn't used more often, honestly. In those instances, you want to limit the number of people who touch the ball to as few as possible, to avoid mistakes and give the defense as little time as possible to react.

In case you can't tell, I'm STILL not over that botched fourth-down play at Texas.

Absolutely agree. Needing a few inches to gain and starting 5 yards back is mind blowing dumb.

According to the Sugar Bowl announcers, Gibbs was our number 1 receiver this season.

Not unless you have Johnny Davis and are going to run the wishbone.

My levels of superior expectation from Saban go lower every day. I'll just be happy with a new OC.

The car manufacturers also need to bring back the dimmer switch in the floor. They just fricked up a good idea by relocating it to the steering column.

Not to be that guy, but it was a staple in 2022.

Gibbs missed a game and a half due to injury and still led the team in receptions.

so....we need to use a style of offense that could only muster 20 points against a pete golding defense. with some of those points coming in garbage time.
riiiiiiiiiiiiiight...........

Here my opinion on having a fb. Every option offensively should be used and available.

Sets with a guy like Outz are fine. But Alabama has never used a traditional fullback in any offensive system under Saban. Lots more flexibility with a h-back.

Nudie Fowler was the closest to a traditional fullback but he was still moved around like a h-back.
