Ole Miss fans have been 100|% class about Mike Leach's passing.
Almost hard to pull against you guys. I do think the relationship between Lane Kiffin and Mike Leach did a lot to soften the hatred between both schools.
This has been hard for us MSU fans , and yes, LSU and Auburn and Alabama reached out like the entire SEC and gave us somewhat comfort. There will never be another Mike Leach. I wish MSU could claim him exclusively but we can't.
He did say he loved Starkville and how it was the perfect fit, he would keep his house regardless of his career. He was one of our own, always spending many hours talking to a cashier wanting to know her background, This was Mike Leach , the man.
I only met him twice in 3 years, once just lined up shaking his hand, the second time getting him to sign a T-Shirt outside of Bulldog Burger. He could spend an hour breaking down a perfect hamburger, I'm dead serious.
Something a lot of people didn't know including our own fans. Leach was a big fan of little things, like the Mississippi River and how low the water level was. He loved things like MSU basketball and Baseball. He really liked our coaching staff in athletics , especially Sam Purcell, our new Women's head coach.
He could go hours and hours about anything. You could mention a Delta 747 and he'd explain why it was built and how it functioned , like a mechanic. I will miss him like no other. We lost a national treasure.

That's a topic that Lane has talked about with how he and Leach looked at the rivalry. I'm glad the toxicity of the rivalry has tapered off a great deal. Leach will certainly be missed. Dude was absolutely unique and the genuine article.

Rivalries are pretty fun if you leave your brain at the door.

10 or 15 years or so ago these two coaches may have made the rivalry even nastier, but both have grown from being the hot offensive coach with a chip on his shoulder to seasoned, respected, great all-around coaches. I was looking forward to many great Egg Bowl games between the two.

Lane has been 100 percent class. It was really interesting to hear Lane discuss the rivalry. A lot of respect for Lane

Us Aggies have had the good fortune of knowing Mike Leach the longest… he’s been kicking our arse for the better part of 2 decades.
With a guy that has had so much success against our program, you’d think he’d have been universally hated.
But he wasn’t hated. He was loved… and he was loved because he was unique, honest, and kind to everyone he encountered.
If I am able to enrich 1% of the lives Mike Leach impacted, I would consider that an enormously successful life!

Thanks for the kind words. I've never hated MSU and see it as just a football game. Half my family and some friends are Bulldogs. That matters more than the games. Leach was a great guy and I loved having him in Mississippi. I'm really going to miss him.

I think in moments like this it's good to put the hate behind you for a time. Hats off to Ole Miss.
But come on now. We need that hate back when the football season gets started in 2023.
Always remember:

You forget that was the greatest thing to happen to Ole Miss.

There have been times when the heat got turned up in this rivalry, looking at you Dan, but honestly you guys are family. In my life it truly is a house divided with several friends and family members that are fans of state or OM. The best way I can explain the relationship between our schools is if you have a brother you know. Things can get chippy when we’re competing with each other but that’s ok. When I was younger my grandad was worried me and my brother would kill each other, and we could fight and it was fine because at the end of the fight there’s still love there. I can cuss and fight with my brother and there’s no love lost, but if someone else thinks they can do the same you better think again because then you get both of us. Losing coach Leach is hard for Mississippi and especially Mississippi State but keep your head up because you will come through this stronger. We got your back, except a couple weeks in baseball season and the last week of November. Love you guys keep fighting and swing your sword.

Best for both schools. It brought us both Kiffin and Leach.

Elijah Moore saved two programs with that action. It got us Kiffin and State Leach. A statue should be built for him and he should be celebrated for his heroics

I guess you put it next to the Elvis Sexual Predator statue in Tupelo?

I am not an Ole Miss fan… but as a Bama fan, I would like y’all if it wasn’t for those infernal cow bells. Y’all make good cheese.

I loved Mike Leach. What a great coach and person as far as I can tell. Never met the man but feel through all the interviews and tributes given I have a sense of who he was. Never seemed to take himself to seriously and was truly interested in the other person.
Growing up in Mississippi you had to choose a school to root for. Ole Miss or State. I have always rooted for State except for our games against one another and the Mullen years. I didn't really hate State but there was a hatred for Mullen that he created and remains till this day for me.
My condolences to the Leach family and all of the State family!
Hail State!

I’m guessing he is calling Elvis a predator because Pricilla was still pretty young when he first started showing her attention
I’ll care about that the day Pricilla speaks out against it and removes herself from the estate

Leach was one of my favorite coaches. Actually wrote a letter way back in the day to the chancellor to hire Leach. Think we got Nutt instead
