Thanks I guess. I mean, did you really expect for us to be nasty about something like this? We are just people, like everyone else.

Like Dmagic said I have too many friends to hate State, try to stay out of bickering as much as possible. Leach was my favorite coach though and I don’t think there’s anyone who didn’t at least moderately like him.

Ole Miss plays Texas Tech in their bowl so we have to pull for OM. It’s what Leach would want

No it's because it looks like he's flashing his younger-self when you stand behind it...

This. I think everyone is saddened by Leach's passing. Sports is one thing but Leach transcended that to an extent. I think he reminded everyone that at the end of the day college football isn't the end all be all. He might as well been on those Corona commercials for "most interesting man". We should all take a page out of his book and start learning more about intriguing events or ideas in whatever free time one might have. We spend too much time entertaining ourselves with useless shite.

I just bought "Under A Black Flag" to read and plan on reading Leach's "Swing Your Sword" afterwards. Saddened that State has had such a bad string of untimely deaths.

I have not been this sad over a coach passing since Bear Bryant. Big rivals for us but always respected them.such a loss. SEC was always best with them in it.

"Under The Black Flag" was a favorite of Leach's and I think helped kick off his fascination with pirates. He had a record of recommending it any time the Pirate thing was brought up. Not written by Leach

I really really liked coach Leach. I wished I had a chance to meet him. Before he passed I would watch some of his interviews on YouTube. He was a brilliant man. Almost my entire extended family are state grads or fans. I receive a lot of abuse, but its all in good fun.

Like some have said, Im really glad Lane and Leach cool the hate down, it was getting to ridiculous levels.

C'mon man, Mike Leach wouldn't have wanted those type comments. Dude could carry a conversation with a garbage collector and make him feel like he was responsible for saving the world. Leach understood rivalries but likely didn't invest much more than a regular game. He hated losing but understood the game and fans.

Committees need to stop treating their guidelines like it's law. They won't go to prison for making an exception.

I read a lot of these and for some reason Kiffin’s hit the hardest. Mainly the last little bit. I do think he lost a good friend. Hell the Step Brothers meme with their faces was absolutely perfect when they both got hired.

Lane hardly ever smiles. So that is very telling!

You could see the pain in Kiffin's eyes and hear it in his voice in his interview about Leach.

He flat out said "I loved him" and he meant it.

I love that picture. It was the greatest coaching duo I can remember.

My take on the State - Ole Miss rivalry has softened greatly in the recent years. Obviously I still want to win we play each other but I pull for OM when they are not playing us. Last year a number of my Ole Miss friends were glad when we won the CWS and I returned the favor this year.
Actually, when Ole Miss got the bid , I had a feeling that they were going to win it all. I told a number of people just that before the regionals ever started.

I am heartbroken about Leach and sad that I never got meet him. One of our daughters met him and has a photo them together.

When I was a youngster Ole Miss was dominating the rivalry 21-2-4 (1947-1973). So quite naturally there was a lot of resentment from State fans and hatred in those days because Ole Miss was simply better than us. My Dad stayed mad at Ole Miss for years after the 1963 game.
State led 10-7 late in the game and Ole Miss got down to the goal line and Johnny Vaught chose to kick a FG for the tie. That clinched the SEC for Ole Miss. My Dad was so mad about the tie. He would rather lost than tied.
State was four points away winning the Conference that year. Tied Florida 9-9 and lost Bama 20-19. Along with the tie game against Ole Miss.

Today though we are fairly even on the gridiron and it is more fun when we are both winning. This year is a good example. Very close game that went down to the wire.

Good luck to Ole Miss against Texas Tech.
