Is it weird I’m viewing this Sugar Bowl as like a Spring game?

It’s just I have no emotion or care whether we win or lose I just want to see how our young guys do.

It’s a shame the CFP has done this to the non playoff bowls.

I view it more as a Winter Camp to keep your spot for next season.

As much as bowls have become insignificant due to the playoff, opt outs, portal, it'll be worse once 12 team playoff begins.

I am literally more excited about the football coaching changes and who Saban may hire. And throw in basketball while we are at it.

I have to live with these jackasses out here. I need a win. 3/4 of my running group are Cats. FML if we lose…

I think this is the mentality that leads to having an LSU type of program that may pop off one year, but far more often than not, dramatically underperforms.

I understand not being excited as a fan, but let’s not forget this program was built on The Process and Dominate Your Opponent.

If the players have the mentality of “meaningless bowl game”, then the Saban dynasty is well and truly dead.

I want to continue the streak of winning at least 11 games for as long as possible. Much better feeling heading in to off season with a win.

Might I remind you of the meaningless Sugar Bowls of 2009 and 2014.

Utah 31- Bama 17
Oklahoma 45- Bama 31

This was before the NIL and all the opt outs for NFL prep.

By your statement, the process has been dead since year 3 of the Saban tenure.

There’s a difference between losing a game, and not caring.

The ‘08 team just wasn’t that good. The most talented players, other than Andre Smith, on that team were all freshmen.

The ‘13 team exposed that we were behind the times defending spread offenses. Thankfully, Saban quickly adapted.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that two of Saban’s best teams - 2011 and 2020 had convincing showings in the bowl game at the end of the prior season.

I don’t see how calling a game “meaningless” fits into anything Saban has preached the entire time he’s been here.

I agree other than I care very much if we win or lose.

Do you believe that 45-31 Sugar Bowl against OU in the 2013 is indicative of how our 2011 defense would have done against either that OU offense that night or any other prolific spread offense?

I view every bowl game this way

It’s rare that both teams are full go and motivated in bowl games

Plus they don’t mean a single thing

What does that even mean? Even with the BCS, the other bowl games didn’t mean shiit. The CFP brings more games that matter. Who cares about bowl games?

So true about the 08 Bama team. That team also played in a weak SEC that year.

5 turnovers had more to do with Bama losing to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl then it being a meaningless game.

Also, Bama has lost their previous game both of those seasons that knocked them out of a National Championship opportunity.

So basically what does any game mean after you're officially eliminated from the playoffs in the regular season?

The team and the coaches couldn't muster any enthusiasm or effort for the season, why should you care about this pointless game more than they did the whole season?

It is weird to say, but I feel the same way. This game means nothing.

It would be nice to blow out our opponent and have the 3rd and 4th place teams get blown out, just to embarrass the committee. If that's not going to happen, then no other result matters to me.

Man I can’t believe some of you guys don’t care about this game. I’m pretty hyped tbh, I want to win.

I don't think it is the college football playoff you are suffering from what all Bama fans suffer from.. It's called spoiled fan syndrome LOL, it is college football playoffs or bust. It's amazing to be in a position like we are, but yes it does make any bowl game besides a CFP game seem like a spring game
