First Pruitt, now Anderson. Bama boys cant win.
Homer Norton, Vince Dooley, Danny Ford, Bobby Bowden, Dabo Swinney, Kirby Smart all were/are Bama boys (born in Alabama) and won AP NCs. That is 6 of the 53 HCs who have won an AP NC or 11.3%. That's far greater (7.5 X) than the 1.5% the state of Alabama has in US population.

That's not counting the coaches who only played or coached at Alabama but weren't born here or who did not win a NC but were winners.

Bama boys have won and still do win. They've won 4 of the last 8 NCs.

Miller was associating with his own teammates and got inadvertently roped into a fricked up situation. So yes he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. If he arrives 10 minutes sooner or later than he did he's never even tangentially involved.

Agreed. And Miller's teammate as he knew him while driving to pick him up was someone:
- who had no criminal record at all, not even jay-walking
- who had no history of violence
- whose Dad was a military man
- whose Mom was a DC police officer
- who had been seriously vetted by Coach Oats in recruitment
- who was an engaging, fun-loving teammate

All of this based on what we know at this time.

IMO, Oats comments were not idiotic. What he said was accurate. He had mentioned the tragedy of Ms Harris's death and the fact that she was a mom, multiple times prior. It's ridiculous that you have to be on your Ps and Qs with no room for error because you have vultures ready to pounce at the slightest oversight. The media should have known the context but they were lazy or stupid or glad to have fresh red meat to rip and tear.

The scumbags have impugned, slashed and burned the character of a very young man (in HS last year) who's behavior should have been commended and thus put his life in danger with their reckless, sometimes malicious, disregard for the truth.

The Alabama athletic program is treated differently than any other program in the country because of the bitterness and jealousy of the regional media and the self-righteous contempt for the South and especially the state by the national media. Among other things.

This is a good point. This probably is what Saban was communicating to His players and possibly to all athletes at Bama.
Don’t do the wrong thing and then claim we were at the wrong place at the wrong time. A philosophy or belief,Saban has arguably lived by all his life. Do the right things and stay out of trouble.

I love Saban but he is wrong on this.

Oats had 1 player charged with a crime and he kicked him off the team.

Saban had a player on video striking a woman and did nothing.

Kinda hypocritical

Yes, Alabama has size, length, and athleticism! I've watched San Diego State vs Utah State a few times and I've noticed that they do not defend the pick an roll well.

Utah State center (#32 Trevin Dorius) had a feasting party versus San Diego and when he got in foul trouble early on that's when Utah State struggled.

Alabama just got to be ready from the tip.

I’d love it if we could get back to basketball and an extremely rare golden opportunity to reach the Final 4 this weekend. Let’s get Saban out of the basketball thread.

My biggest question about SDSU's size defensively is how quick it is. Maryland threw 4 long guys at us, switched everything and really gave us issues for a half. But in the 2nd half we spread the floor and beat them off the dribble because their long wings weren't quick enough to defend one on one in space.

Maryland
Jahmir Young (6-1)
Ian Martinez (6-3)
Donald Carey (6-5)
Patrick Emilien (6-7)
Donta Scott (6-8)
Hakim Hart (6-8)
Julian Reese (6-9)

SDSU
Darrion Trammell (5-10)
Lamont Butler (6-2)
Adem Seiko (6-3)
Matt Bradley (6-4)
Micah Parrish (6-6)
Aguek Arop (6-7)
Keshad Johnson (6-7)
Jaedon LeDee (6-9)
Nathan Mensah (6-10)

I'd imagine SDSU/Arkansas is probably as good a watch to get an idea of how they might defend quickness as we have from their season.

SDSU/Arkansas

That’s what I Iove about this team and what I hope is going to be a hallmark of Oats’ teams, which is versatility in the way they can attack on offense. Good teams can usually limit your first option. Makes us a little more bad matchup resistant which you need for a chance at long tournament runs.
