Zero talk on the Vols boards about our game. They are still stunned thinking about their last 2 L's.

“They’ve got really good players, but they’re young. You’ve got to keep them out of transition and take away the 3. They don’t throw it inside much in the halfcourt. Overall you have to be real physical with them and pound ’em on the glass. Brandon Miller is really mature offensively. He doesn’t get frustrated. You have to limit his catches, because when he gets it he’s unguardable. If he has to guard someone who’s physical and can move, that can be a problem. Jalen Hill at Oklahoma drove on him and got a bunch of shots at the rim. Their chemistry is really good. You never see any moaning or groaning or finger-pointing. They lack an inside post scorer. Charles Bediako is more of a rim-runner. They’re more dangerous when Noah Clowney comes in at the five.”

Pretty fair. The article is geared towards finding negatives

This brings us to a very concerning stat for Tennessee. The Vols are now 2-5 in games where their opponents shoot over 30% from three. It’s happened now three times in the last 10 days. Tennessee has lost all three games.

What happened at Oklahoma? They are not good and beat us soundly. I don’t get it.

I think Chuck is playing better but I wish we could see a little more Pringle instead of Gurley. I think he brings athleticism and toughness that neither of them have.

OU shot 60% and 70% from 3pt. There wasn't much we could do - seems like more of a fluke than anything

Oklahoma hit open shots at a better rate than expected. However there's no spinning how badly we played defensively. If we brought that effort every game, we'd be complaining about 1/2 the teams on the schedule shooting lights out against us.

The big takeaway from Oklahoma is that we came out completely sleepwalking and they punched us in the mouth again and again -- for all the talk about shooting% and margin of victory they probably quadrupled us on "blue collar points".

It's basketball and teams lose road games. Sometimes to bad teams. Sometimes going away. Especially when the road team isn't mentally engaged.

I would say a good 3/4 of the ball screens they set were blatantly illegal and involved moving feet, hip checks, forearm shivers, etc. 3/4 is probably me being generous too. It was egregious. I don't recall them getting called for a single one of them either, so they just kept doing it the whole game. Dealing with ball screens is probably our biggest weak spot on defense, they attacked it, and the refs allowed them to attack it much harder than they should have been able to.

Sometimes teams just can't miss and that's what happened in Oklahoma...it kind a reminded me of what Wenyen Gabriel did to us in the SEC tournament March 10, 2018!

Your not winning when people are shooting crazy like that.

O yea, our DEFENSE was a little suspect to that game.

If Bama rebounds the ball and limits Tennessee second chance points it'll get rough for them. We can't give up blow byes to their guards and we must stop leaving our feet on the perimeter.

I look for them to shoot the best they've shot in a while though.

We got to get out and run and hit shots. This will be another Brandon Miller game with it being in Tennessee.

I think he puts on a show.

If you want to see a "can't miss" game, check out the '87 Sweet-16 game the #2 Tide played against Billy Donovan/Pitino coached #6 Providence. The 3-point line was "new", and Alabama was scoring 2s nearly every time down court, BUT Donovan and his guys were hitting 3s at the same clip!....helluva game to lose!
