I guess a hurricane can't destroy a house that technically isn't finished yet......

Lanier will be driving his wife to the hospital in his new boat

Stay safe Floridians! I’d gladly take some of that rain out here in Texas.

I think he'd said he was going up to GA this weekend anyways. Just hope the house and boat make it alright.
But, as someone who lives in the panhandle... Hate it for you boss, glad it's headed his way instead of mine

Lanier and I live in the same town. It is going south of us by about an hour. So should be some gusties tonight and the rain isn't bad yet so long as it keeps going we all should be fine...originally thought this one was going to hit well above us but turned and kept its speed and as such won't lessen...so hoping for power tomorrow.

I hope you and your family stay safe.

Thanks...changing track again so we should be good to go with a lot of rain and winds that are farther away from the eye so should be able to sleep through this one...

You are damn right I would be.
frick, I would pack up and evacuate and never come back if that happened.
I think someone saw where I posted that my 25 year old son and his wife had their first child a few weeks back making me a granddad.

88, I dont remember where you said you live. I am in west Manatee County, on Hwy 70 right at I75. I live in Tara Country Club.
If the 5am update happens, we will be just on the edge of the northern eye wall. I am fairly south as well so depending on where it actually lands, we could seen some 100mph stuff
Where are you?. Also, if you need anything during this or after it and I can possibly help in anyway, do not hesitate to ask. I should have temporary power here if needed and my bar is fully stocked. Bud I will do anything I can to help you or your family if needed...

We just had our first as well. We raised all boys and now have the first young lady on the family.
It truly changes your life.
Ya'll stay safe down there.

Prayers for you and your family. This things has blown up over night, now saying it will be a Cat 5 when it hits
Work for the space program and I’m so glad we rolled Artemis into the VAB yesterday because this is going to be a lot worse than it looked when those decisions were being made.

I’ve ridden out a lot of hurricanes in the panhandle, but after going through Michael and surveying damage for rebuilds (I’m an Architect) I’d get the heck out if that thing hits cat 4.
On another note, Lanier, you live in an awesome place. I’ve designed some museums at Ringling and have been down there a bunch and that is area is by far my favorite beaches in the US.

I've evac'd for a ton of storms and I'd always recommend leaving for a major hurricane. Stuff becomes pretty unimportant when you and your family are clinging to a tree, after your house is demolished or when you retreat into your attic, with no escape when the water rises over 6' in your house.
Both of those things happened to friends and neighbors during Ivan & Katrina.
Stay safe.

Good luck Lanier. That Ian looks real nasty. Hold on to your butts! We are all praying for yourself and everyone down there. WDE!
