Report: Bedlam will end when OU joins the SEC

The annual Bedlam series between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State is not expected to continue when the Sooners leave the Big 12 for the SEC in 2025, according to athletic directors from both schools. The rivalry is one of the longest continuous rivalries in college football.
Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have played 112 years in a row dating back to a 12-0 victory by the Sooners over then-Oklahoma A&M in 1910, three years after Oklahoma became a state. However, both sides claim that the rivalry game cannot be worked out logistically in the coming years as a nonconference contest.
"It presents logistical issues under our current [scheduling] structure," Oklahoma State athletic director Chad Weiberg told The Action Network. "We don't have any openings to play them. We're full. Unless there are significant undertakings to make the game happen, it can't happen."
The Cowboys have three nonconference games scheduled in five of the next six seasons. The 2025 season -- when the Sooners are expected to depart for the SEC -- remains the only opening. However, scheduling contracts are often broken. In 2019, Michigan canceled a series with UCLA with a $1.5 million buyout in order to schedule more home games.

Yeah, I am not happy about this. OU only needs 10 more wins to get to 100 wins in this so called rivalry. The OU athletic director said OSU shows no interest in continuing to play so OU is moving on.

The Longhorns are reporting not interested in ever playing (getting beaten) by Kansas after 2025 as well
Lots of tough rivalry games going away

As long as OU and Texas still play annually in the Cotton Bowl then that's all that matters.

That sucks. If both schools wanted to make this work, they could. I bet both of them will play a cupcake school still. We all do.

Any word on the Texas A&M and Appalachian State series?

Getting to 100 wins would have been nice, but I can't say I'm too shaken up about the news. They have provided a nice, often highly ranked matchup in recent years, usually at or near the end of the season, but we shouldn't have much trouble finding another.
I recall when OSU wanted to replace Nebraska as our Thanksgiving rival.

They need to find a way to keep it going. It will be no conference but Florida Miami and Florida State make it work.

First, the truth is in the middle. No, your program isn’t trying to schedule them and it’s not you guys trying to save it. The SEC told you guys no. It wasn’t in your control. tu isn’t playing Texas Tech either, and that’s the story Tech gave. They tried calling tu out on Twitter for being cowards, tu said if was an SEC decision. The same is true for Bedlam. You guys weren’t going to get special treatment and get one less conference game to accommodate them. SC doesn’t get one less game either bc they play Clemson. Use your OOC slots for that and make it permanent like SC/Clemson

Any game played long enough to have a nickname seems like it would have a case for being saved. But this one's probably fairly lopsided.

I think I’d rather play Baylor OOC each year if we had to schedule one of the Hateful 8

I think it could. Both teams would just have to give up one of their open OOC spots every season and keep each other locked in it. Like South Carolina/Clemson.
