Probably because the teams they’ve beaten so far, were a combined 7-17 a season ago.

Eh. I wouldn’t get too worked up about it. As I recall the year Dak broke out they went from unranked to #1 in the matter of a few weeks when they won, and then dropped back lower into top 15 when they lost. If they keep winning, they’ll get the ranking they deserve quickly enough. If they don’t keep winning, then they’ll keep they ranking they deserve. To paraphrase a State coach from a different sport: That’s football.

Every year, we have to wait and watch weeks go by for teams like Notre Dame to fall slowly out of the polls and every year, like clockwork, they start ranked high.
