CBS is expected to pay in the $350 million per year neighborhood for the 3:30 Big Ten games, according to sources.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe FOX still has first choice for its 12:00 ET Big Ten game.

This really sucks. My whole entire lifetime of memories of CFB revolve primarily around the SEC being on CBS. Gonna be real weird not having that anymore.

The SEC games will be solely on those Disney Networks. That Networks liberal beliefs contradict everything that the SEC area citizens believe in. How soon before that Disney theme bleeds over to the coverage? CBS was the less of two evils.

Gary Danielson & Brad Nessler will finally get to call Purdue v Minnesota football games CBS.
meanwhile the SEC on ABC gets to reunite with our former ambassadors from CBS - Sean McDonough & Todd Blackledge.

That is an insane amount for CBS to pay.
The SEC signed on with Disney in December 2020. SEC Reaches $3 Billion Deal With Disney, Drawing CBS Ties Toward an End.
ESPN will pay the SEC around $300 million annually for the rights, according to two people with knowledge of the agreement who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not permitted to speak publicly. That is nearly a sixfold increase from the $55 million annually CBS currently pays.LINK

Can you imagine anyone wanting to watch two big10 teams at 3:30 on CBS?
Posted on 8/9/22 at 10:34 am to Farmer1906
Heard a good point on the radio. This is gonna be a great deal for the BIG10 in football but virtually take away any national exposure for basketball for them.

Every game on ESPN or ABC feels the the same and they never feel like big games. It doesn't matter if it's the MAC Wednesday Night Game of the Week or the National Championship Game. It just feels like another annoying and shitty game on ESPN.

B1G is outmaneuvering us at every turn. I’m afraid the SEC decline has started

SECs current contract with CBS is for $55 million / year. CBS pulled out of Negotiations with the SEC supposedly because it was too expensive for the.

As I understand it the SEC is totally and exclusively going with ESPN/ABC.
That always seemed to me like putting all of your eggs in one basket. Was CBS not even allowed to bid on it??
I hope Sankey knows what he is doing. The guy that is the commissioner of the ACC got hornswoggled by ESPN.
How will the total TV package for the SEC compare to the big ten?

Someone at ABC/ESPN needs to get to work on a trade package for the SEC on CBS theme song
Send them Mickey Mouse, Darth Vader, and a future 1st round pick for all I care. We cannot let that flawlessly composed piece of music history fall into the hands of the Northern frickasses.

With the West Coast teams joining, that could be a noonish kickoff for them if Michigan @ USC were the featured game

They are making bold moves but I am not sure the Big Ten is a long term draw. Even with the two California teams. The problem isn't the big time match ups.
You'll get some eyes with USC vs Michigan after all. But once you cross off the very top teams you run into problems. Are people really going to be beating down the door to watch Minnesota play Rutgers?
They might not be ratings juggernauts but folks will tune in to watch Ole Miss vs. Arkansas or South Carolina vs. Florida.
I think CBS is over paying for something that will likely under perform when it comes to ratings.

ESPN/ABC need to get their act together as far as broadcast quality, picture quality, sound quality, quality of announcers and basically everything else in order to get even close to what CBS has.
I agree with the poster earlier who said CBS games just have a big game feel to them and ESPN games(no matter how big a matchup) all seem the same.
ESPN needs to make the SEC games feel different than a Thursday night Sun Belt game. Right now they don’t.

SEC leadership was a bunch of fricking idiots to give everything to ESPN.

I miss the Jefferson Pilot noon games.

Doesn't bother me. I hate watching games on CBS. They have more commercials it seems to me. I agree that the games look better but thats it. As long I can watch I'm happy. I wish I could watch the game without announcers. Just hear the crowd and PA
