Looking forward to seeing what TAM does this year with all those stars.
I would think 2023 or 2024 would give a better idea. They'll still be developing size, strength and technique this coming season.

Number of 2022 NFL Draft Picks by state where they played high school ball:
Texas (32)
Georgia (30)
California (22)
Florida (21)
Ohio (13)
Alabama (12)
Louisiana (10)
Maryland (10)
North Carolina (10)
Nick Saban has recruited the shite out of California, Texas, Louisiana and Florida. I think one year his national championship team had a defensive backfield entirely from Florida. Not sure what you mean.

Didn’t check all of the states but teas has a population of 29.5 mil, louisiana 4.5 mil. So if the numbers in the nfl above are accurate texas is roughly 6 times the population of louisiana but only puts roughly 3 times more in the nfl. Don’t know about the other states but louisiana puts far more in nfl per capita than texas.

The best high school football players in the country come from south Florida and it isn’t all that close. Those kids are getting coached hard from 5 years old. Actually hard. No travel ball bullshite.

State of Georgia seriously outpacing everyone there on a per capita basis. Wow.

For the Texas comments, in my opinion, many Texas kids receive better coaching and have access to more resources at the high school level because Texas HS football is so huge.
Thus, a lot of Texas kids peak in high school and are perceived as busts at the next level because they don't take the next step.

LSU is blessed to be in such a rich recruiting State without any other competitive in state schools successfully recruiting against them.

The state of Mississippi has placed the most players in the NFL capita, according to Sidelines
"Per Capita" is a completely meaningless statistic

From a national championship to a 6-7 and fired coach in 2021. A step back is the correct term . A jump back might be a better term.

Not really. You can't actually believe that Mississippi at just under 3 million population can put the same number of kids in the NFL as Texas with a population at 28.6 million. It'a very meaningful statistic to level the playing field when two sample sizes are very different as in this case. I hope your job doesn't require statistics or critical thinking.

Leveling the "playing field?" In regards to what? Message board argument s? It's meaningless and if you really want a legitimate deep dive in to numbers "per participant" is a much more valid number but still rather meaningless.
California produced 2 of the best players in the SEC last year (Bowers and Young) and their "per Capita" numbers are abysmal but if you had a choice between recruiting California or Mississippi you'll choose California 10
outta 10 times.

We’re just better people here in Georgia.

It seems these states produce great talent, but what sets them apart from the northern talent or even texas talent. Is it the systems they play in or a tougher mindset?
Its called Black people. Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia are all over 34% black.

The OP is talking about coming out of high school though....not college. Once in college kids can toughen up, put on weight, polish technique and do all kinds of things to get to the NFL.
I don't think he is saying Texas kids don't have talent so much as they come out of high school lacking some aspects.
Again....I don't know how true it is but I have heard similar things. I'm sure there have been some absolutely great players that came out of Texas high schools, too. It boils down to an opinion by somebody and would be very difficult to prove or say definitively.

I should also say that this surprises me somewhat as the rankign of talent usually goes something like:
California
Texas
Florida (Florida and Texas are almost even, I think)
Georgia
Ohio (Ohio has been slipping for some time, though)
