Listening to local sports radio this afternoon in MS. They mentioned that Oklahoma did not sell out of their allotment of 700 tickets to the Sunday game. Their team was playing in a national championship game in a state relatively close by.

Oklahoma has no clue what they are about to experience on a weekly basis in the league. I would love to know what their AD thought when he walked into the stadium and it was 97% Ole Miss fans and he saw his players visibly rattled by the hostility of the environment

Neither OU or Texas is SEC caliber. I will throw the Aggies in there as well.

They need to realize that this was a baseball game, 14 hours from Mississippi. What is OU going to do when they are at home and the SEC fans come calling in football? Or worse for them, OU goes to Florida and LSU back to back, they have not seen hostility.

I went to Little Rock when Arkansas first joined the SEC, their fans were stunned

A lot easier to get up for one game with weeks of anticipation

Whole different story when it’s every week.

Middle of the pack finishes at best.

Defensive minded hire is not going to bode well either.

Same topic that gets hashed on weekly it seems. Nothing new. It’s baseball. It’s not like basketball or football where OU has a history of more fan representation at away games. While baseball is a great sport and a championship we wanted badly, it’s nowhere near important as basketball and football. No one thought OU was going far. There was never an anticipation like there is for Texas, Oklahoma State, TCU, most SEC schools.

OU will be just fine competing in the SEC.

We beat BAMA in Tuscaloosa
We beat Tennessee in Knoxville
We Ohio State in Columbus
We beat Notre Dame in Southbend
We beat Florida State in Tallahassee
We should’ve beat Georgia in the Rose Bowl.

We ain’t no spring chicken buddy.

I agree with that, but for the OU fans it is going to be an adjustment. Most of the SEC teams would take your head off if they could, and the fans are worse.

I have relatives that are big LSU fans (and alums.) They are nice to me before the game, but during and after.... well once they refused to allow me back in the van to take me back to their place were I was staying.

Congrats to Ole Miss winning the chip, but no need to speak on nonsense.

OU will do fine, especially with 8 SEC homes games. OU consistently has maybe 6 home games in the Big 12 and they’re about to move up to 8 home games.

No one saw baseball making this far and there was still fatigue from softball.

There traditionally hasn’t been much focus on baseball, but that will slowly change just as softball interest evolved.

Congrats on that win over a heavily sanctioned Bama squad

The point is OU did not do it in one year. Back to back to back SEC games will take a toll.

By the way, how is OU's record against the SEC in national title games or games leading to a national title game?

Seems like every SEC fan has this take about OU football. No problem, we'll see soon enough.

Baseball IS a concern because OU fans just don't care. Mostly because all the attention goes to softball now. Softball has been the best program in the country and until this year the baseball team had been a middling program for that same decade.

It will be interesting to see if SEC teams coming to Norman will make any difference. Probably a little but I'd be surprised if they ever drew more than 3 or 4K no matter what. Interestingly though, Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State draw huge SEC type crowds when they play in the minor league parks in OKC and Tulsa.

The SEC has 6 of the top 18 all-time schools in wins (those are original schools),
the Big 12 2

In the last 30 years all those SEC teams have won at least one title, most have won multiple titles

I’m not saying it won’t be tough but to act like Oklahoma is incapable of winning in the SEC is foolish.

That is not what we are saying, winning, yes, winning the SEC, no.

Look at how OU has done against the SEC in the BCS and the playoffs.
