Because you are discussing the replacement of a huge traditional rivalry in favor of Bama vs Vandy/South Carolina/Missouri/Kentucky.

Yea but we're not really the point of all that because we don't have an OOC rival.
Well that game could become the game in that place.
I'm not saying it's ideal, but if it was really that important it can still work with a 1-7 etc.
I think a 2-6 or 3-5 is the better solution if we want to keep that game, but there are still ways.

Why do 14 teams in the SEC care about Bama vs Missouri more than Bama cares about Bama vs Tennessee?
LSU fans have often bitched about how easy Bama's permanent East draw is compared to theirs as of late.

Personally, if we did 1-7 and then played Tennessee yearly OOC (except for the years they rolled onto our schedule as a SEC team), I'd be fine with that.
I'd hope we wouldn't kick our P5 teams already scheduled ot the curb, though, and that we'd replace Kent State with them and not replace Oklahoma State/Arizona/Boston College with them. However, I'm pretty sure we'd want to keep 2 non-P5 games and that is how it would go.
I agree with this. I want to keep the OOC games and really want to play 2 minimum every year. I really liked the direction our scheduling was going.

I’ll flip this to Georgia’s theoretical case. It would be cool to play LSU more often, but I don’t care about playing any of the other West teams more often than we already do, especially considering what UGA would have to give up to make that happen.

Yep - I love the type of game they've scheduled for that #2 OOC game every year (and that they are H/H). Boston College, Arizona, Oklahoma State, West Virginia to compliment Texas, Florida State, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Ohio State.
It's so damn pretty to look at I'm terrified this shite is gonna blow it to bits

Another way or saying it was the worst rated Bama SEC game on cable
Yeah, but only an idiot would say that.

Look man, Bama/UT brings in no extra eyeballs.
It very clearly brings in more eyeballs than most games, and that's with a Vols team that hasn't been competitive in over a decade.

Sigh. I’m fine with the current option of 3-6. It makes a lot of sense
It’s just funny watching the Bama fans fume over the idea of 1-7. Because Bama and a few other schools are the reason why we have had the horrific scheduling these last few years where you barely play some sec schools

Why wouldn't we be playing Georgia and Florida more?
You play georgia equally to Vandy.
You play florida equally to south carolina.
The point is that half of the teams in the conference are below average. Mediocre. By definition.
Why are we force feeding a schedule which encourages mediocre half of the time at the expense of Alabama vs Tennessee?
That is not sound logic.

Why are all the teams you keep naming all the teams Georgia plays every year?
I am naming teams that Bama would play more often than you do right now with the 6 extra conference games. I could list the mediocre teams in the west as well (ole miss, miss st, arkansas, a&m). In the same vein, i dont care if UGA plays vanderbilt once every 4 years or once every 5 years. And neither does vandy (they cancelled our game in 2020 so it obviously means next to nothing for them).
Why are we screwing up great traditions for games that no one really cares how often they play?

I just want to play Tennessee every year. I don't really care how we do it, and I don't trust administrators (even ours, who I do have some trust in) to quickly pivot to finding an alternate way in these situations. If we go 1-7 then the last decade tells us that nobody is going to make the effort to figure out a way to play every year.
The saving grace there is it won't just be us, and Georgia/Auburn won't allow that game to die, along with the fact that despite their struggles recently Tennessee does not want to lose this game any more than we do. So we'd figure it out (I'd hope) in some sort of OOC/Conference game yearly trade off way.

Last quarter century, rank the average ratings of these Bama opponents:
LSU
AU
uGA
UT
UF
A&M
Ole Miss
I would say UT is near the very bottom

My sentiment exactly.
And if UGA meets LSU in the CCG, all the better. We have played Bama 7 times in the past 10 years. That is great because the majority of them were in the SECCG/NCG.

SEC will screw this up. Needs to be a full rotational or a 3-6. They will kill all the rivalries that have been going on for decades. In some cases more than 100 years.

Win your division more.
Earn the right.
This isnt rocket science.
The only cross division game that really mattered was the SECCG.

How is 1-7 not a full rotational? You see everyone every other year.
Unless you’re saying no permanent opponent ever
