But i dont cry about playing in baton rouge more often. I dont care about you like i care about Auburn, Florida, Tech, and Clemson. I rarely think of you. If we meet in the SECCG, all the better. But the tigers are not on my mind.

In fairness, for me, the feeling is mutual. I don't care about playing UGA as much as I care about playing Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida, and Auburn. I enjoy when we do play UGA and there have been some great games, but I didn't grow up seeing LSU play UGA often, so it's not something I have it in me to miss if that continued.

Sorry nobody cares about Bama's continued arse whippings over Tennessee.

Do you think anyone cares if USC plays Clemson every year? Do you care if others care?

Now apply that to UT and Alabama fans.

But that is exactly what we are discussing.
One model preseves rivalries.
The other model pushes mediocre crap half of the time

That's the whole discussion though. There's not many SEC teams with two or more rivalries in the SEC and some teams don't agree with letting that dictate the schedule for the remaining teams.

No. Most fans outside of the state don't care about SC-Clemson. I don't get defensive about that, but for some reason Alabama and Tennessee fans get defensive about pointing out that most fans outside of their two states don't care about that game.

for the expansion teams, no, but for the charter members, I disagree. They may not all be games you call a "rivalry" in the traditional sense, but every charter member has 3+ games they've been playing every year for almost a century in some cases that fans don't want to lose just because the SEC decided to add too many teams

Well, you realize part of the issue of everyone not agreeing to a 9 conference game schedule is because USC, Florida, and Georgia have P5 rivalry games. So if that shoe is on the other foot, why should we dictate our SEC scheduling around what y'all want to do with your non-conference schedule. As others have said, there is no solution that will make everyone (possibly anyone) happy except maybe the new boys from the Big 12 who have no real skin in the game at this point.

Just for the sake of argument, what if the SEC, somehow, told USC they couldn't play Clemson every year anymore. You wouldn't get defensive about that? Really?

Hopefully, if the SEC makes the monumentally stupid decision to kill off rivalries, the schools will find a way to continue playing ooc. It shouldn’t have to come to that but this conference has sold itself out and will soon be a generic farm league for the NFL.

4 of the most historic interstate rivalries in college football, gone from being yearly contests.

I don't get it.

RRS isn't going anywhere.
The other teams can play each other annually OOC.

We shouldn't have to do it this way.

I don't know why so many feel like it's imperative to play every team in the SEC, home and away, in some designated amount of time when we never have had such a system in the history of the conference

i may have read this wrong but apparently ESPN isnt even giving us more money for the proposed 9th game. is that true? that seems insane but if true then yea, the 9 game schedule is dead

Well unfortunately we can't go back to 1990 and just stay at 10.

You're wrong. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Texas, and Texas A&M all have two or more games they want to play each season without question. Is that not enough for you?

I like the nine-game idea. I'd like to play our conference mates more often.

100%. I don't care about playing Texas A&M and Oklahoma every other year, but if you're going to foist that upon us under the guise of conference unity/broadened horizons then at least go with the 3/6/6 9-game schedule model that offers three times as many permanent rivalries and still accomplishes the rotation goal.

Has nothing to do with that. We play 2 more regular season games than we did when we only had 8 teams in the conference and teams still weren't playing every other school in the SEC with any sort of regularity. My issue is more with this imperative everyone seems to be on board with that every team should play one another in a short amount of time. That's never been the case in this conference, so why is that such a hard line item right now? Why does LSU need to play Missouri every 2-3 years? Why does South Carolina need to play Oklahoma every 2-3 years? I'd be perfectly fine with maintaining divisions, continuing to play everyone in your division every year, having one permanent cross-division and two rotating teams in a 10 game SEC schedule or just make one rotating team like we have now in a 9 game schedule. IMO, that takes care of more fans' actual wants than any other proposal on the table and doesn't get rid of any of the games people don't want to lose.

So you only get to schedule one scrub OOC each year for the teams who play P5 rivalry games? Big deal. Hell, for all we know, we could be playing 13 game regular season schedules in no time.

Of course they'll never do this, because apparently someone like Texas going 7 years without playing someone like Vandy would be a problem.

And it's almost like people forget when we first went to divisions, you played everyone in your division, had TWO permanent cross-division games, and one rotating game. I don't recall it being such a big deal that you went 8 years in between road trips to your rotating teams. Why is it a big deal now?

My guess

Ou vs Mizz
TexA and M vs Texas
LSU vs Ark
OM vs MSU
Alabama vs Auburn
Uga vs Fla
Tennessee Vs Vandy
Usc e vs Kentucky

This shouldn’t be gaining steam.

Uga missing out on either auburn or Florida.

Tenn getting a directional conference USA game.

Texas either misses in OU or Texas a and m

You won't see TDSOR and the third saturday not being played.
Period.

yeah, and I guess with the newbies, we can add A&M/Texas and Texas/OU to the list. There's no way you have those three teams in the same conference and those games not played every year.
