I feel like the new Football facility would have been an excellent advantage 10 years ago, but with NIL in the transfer portal, kinda feels like we’re a day late and $100M short. Do the kids were recruiting still care about that type of thing? I guess they do. I guess maybe you have to do that sort of thing in order to keep up with the Joneses, but the bloom is off the rose even before it bloomed. I do wonder what impact it had on recruiting if any.

Having it may not necessarily win you a 5*, but not having it hurts more.

It’s got Recording Studios and a Flight Simulator! We’re going to get FIRE tracks next year.

Probably not a game changer but doesn't hurt

Hurts more to not have one than it helps to have one. They’ve become standard. We may not wow a bunch of guys with it, but best believe not having one is ammo for opposing coaches.

We need it and it probably keeps us in the hunt for guys who might otherwise be looking to knock out contenders..

But you're 100% correct that it's a sign of how we're chasing everyone else just to stay in contention.

I think we need something like the new facility. The NIL generally seems to be in the shadows. aTm apparently spent a bunch of money on their last class. Its hard to know what is real right now. Tank has an NIL deal but does anyone know what it is? Its all kind of secretive.

We need a new athletic complex. I don't know much about the other stuff but a new facility is good.

There have been numerous recruits this year that have mentioned them being part of the first class to get into the new football facility, so I guess it is.

T-Will, maybe that was something he asked to be put in as he was on staff here at the time. While not a must have I could see a lot of kids thinking they have skills using it.

Which is quite ironic, no?

Could be a major NIL opportunity...

Ive often wondered about that. You sink 21 million to get rid of Malzhan, spend 90 million on the glitz. All for naught because now you are back to the same boosters, after 110 million, asking for millions more for NIL.

We could have bought three national championships with that money, instead the well is gettin kind of low just when you need it most.

NIL is going to be expensive, the five stars have already lined up super agents for this cycle, it will matriculate down to an entire signing class within a couple of years, and you will have to circle back (like we did with Tank) and pay existing players to keep them out of the portal.

I expect the NCAA or even the federal govt to move in at some point and stop it before it gets too out of hand. This is free agency with no salary cap.

I know what I’m saying when I say this but if Auburn has to miss their opportunity to be elite just because they didn’t throw 75,000 at each football player then oh well.

I'm going to miss college football. I've been a fan since the '70's. This "new" landscape of the game appears to be trending in such a way that my life long fandom is in doubt.

I'm with ya. I'll miss it. We just don't have the money to compete, and I'm afraid without a dog in the hunt, College Football is in the rear view mirror for me. Prolly getting too old to follow the sport anyway. It was a fun pasttime for 50 years. Maybe now I should take up fly fishing.

KN said he spoke to someone (not an auburn guy) who has been to most of the best facilities in the country and they said that Auburn’s facility will be elite in terms of lavishness and usefulness.

They noted that NIL is probably the biggest thing you have to have going for you but that this facility will be a game changer for Auburn
