From the outside looking in, his 100 players, coaches, and Arky alums are all pulling in the same direction. Its hard not to like him on a personal level. If he gets top 20 classes every year he's going to scramble some eggs and put Arky in the playoff. Everyone sells out for him and what he's doing, and that's a powerful motivation.

Arky has now made an Auburn alter. Literally same way we need Pinkel types.

We agree. We've suffered our asses off for so long, it's so damn glad to have him running the ship. He's one of us. He understands the state, its' people, the overall culture here, and this is his dream job.

We wouldn't trade him for anybody else.

Reminds me of Patrick Fain Dye and Auburn.

You’re only making the playoff if you are 11-1 or better and you are not going to 11-1 in this conference without top 10 recruiting classes. The wear and tear of an SEC season you have to have multiple top 10 talent classes to provide depth and win in crunch time in November. Pitt boss is the man and has the coaching ability but no team is making the playoff unless Arky starts recruiting top 10 classes which historically they’ve never achieved once. That’s the harsh reality.

There have been 6 teams in the last 25 years that have made the "playoff" out of the "Top 10" in recruiting. This includes the current format and prior. Also a factor is consistency with recruiting and what Dr. (PhD) Summarland calls "baseline to plan" in his research. In other words what you recruit and what you get. Added and researched also, is having a guy like Bo, Herschel, Cam etc.. hit your campus, which to date can't really be quantified. I'll say this from observation, if Auburn in 2010 doesn't have Cam Newton we're going to the Independence Bowl.

Sam is the most stable football coach that Arkansas has had since joining the SEC. Petrino and Nutt had too many character flaws, laziness or heavy baggage. Danny Ford was picking up his check, Bert was an alcoholic and Chad was a dumbass mixed with being a prick.

Arkansas has never had any stability without being on TMZ and Sam seems to have the right mindset of building a program.

Half? I'm guessing, I'd have to go back and find the paper through Google Scholar.

Most importantly he doesn't come off as a fake unlike a few coaches that made a stop here.

Just to make the math easier and more relevant, the SEC teams since the playoff started:

‘14 Bama, ‘15 Bama, ‘16 Bama, ‘17 Bama, ‘17 UGA, ‘18 Bama, ‘19 LSU, ‘20 Bama, ‘21 Bama, ‘21 UGA

Every single one of those teams is averaging a top 10 recruiting cycle in a 4 year cycle. Again, you have to go at least 11-1 in this conference to reach the playoff. And you aren’t going 11-1 in this conference without a massive amount of talented depth from multiple top 10 classes.

He's great and he may get there, but at this point Smart is best program manager in the SEC not named Saban and that's not even up for debate at this point.

It's very hard to make an argument over:

1. Saban
2. Smart
3. Kelly

Good lineage. Not at a historically strong program like Arky. Impressed with what he did last year for sure. Beamer has beat us for a couple of portal guys, so I assume he recruits well. Being in the East I haven't followed USC in the same way as Arky. That's all I've got.

How about that we let your boy coach a season in the SEC before we start sucking dicks. I'm not mad though.
