He is a hard nosed coach but that offense would not be attractive to a lot of recruits

Lane Kiffin.

Easy choice.
as long as he saves his 4th down analytics until after we cross the 50

HC experience is pretty much mandatory for Bama.

This. Alabama is a good job but a really tough one. Might be the toughest in the nation because of the pressure. No room for on the job training here.

As of today? My list would be Lane Kiffin and Luke Fickell. And that's about it.

Outside of that the only guys that even pop into my head as "I think he'd be good here and handle it well" is maybe Mark Stoops or Cristobal.

I think Stoops would be pretty damn good here. He'd recruit very well (not Saban well but top 5ish level - the recruiting level they've gotten to at Kentucky is incredible), he's opened himself up on offense with their latest hire, he's consistent, he's professional and from a huge football family so the limelight wouldn't kill him. I think he'd be really solid. Honestly, if Saban retired in the next 2-3 years and Stoops wins 9, 10, 9 games, with his connections to their family and the way Stoops is, wouldn't surprise me if that's the guy Saban suggests to replace him.

No program is above hiring assistants as HC.

Looks like it could be Bill if he hangs around.

Me.

I'll give it a good year and enjoy my buyout for a warranted firing

I’ll take the Mike Price road and only do spring practice. (Gotta have some buyout pay though)

No doubt his job is secure and he just got a nice extension plus Chryst (56) is a Badger.
Jim Leonard, Badger) is only 39...his time will come. Btw, the AD at Wisconsin is Chris McIntosh, former U.S. all-american OT

Reminds me of Tommy Loyd at Gonzaga. He is Zag alum that built a great rep over the years as an assistant and is now leading a top Arizona squad in his first year. Zag fans swore he would follow Mark Few as hc. I knew better.

Only if you're OK with the occasional loss to Vandy.

Stanford was 3-9 this year. One of those 3 was against Cristobal.

He's young, still growing as a HC. Maybe FIU is his Toledo, Saban Bama assistant is his Belichick Browns DC. Oregon is his Michigan State, Miami is his LSU, XXX becomes his Miami, and Bama is his Bama?

I can get on board with Cristobal or Stoops. Kiffin for the lulz. Don't really know enough about Fickell.

Good comparison. Leonard will be a HC and likely build a championship team. Penn State was ready to offer him if Franklin bolted.

Lots of good names on here...valid names...positives and negatives, as there always is....but a guy I think should be on the list, currently, is P.J. Fleck..lots of energy, motivating, and has been a pretty good coach in my opinion

Les Miles...for only 2 years tho. He did win a NC at LSU with Nick's recruits and I'm pretty sure our pantry will be better stocked.

We then follow him with a big name. A big name is not going to hesitate following Les like he might CNS.

Fleck is a damn good coach and has the edge needed to succeed at Bama. Seems to be respected by his peers but would be fit the culture ?

He'd be worth an interview for sure.

Fleck is more of a Tennessee or Auburn coach to me.

Fleck is way too hardcore and mentally tough foe either of those schools.
