Billy Napier's hires so far seem kind of odd

So you have Napier himself who has been in Louisiana the past few years, he brought his DC with him as well as Juluke, then just hired Corey Raymond.
With those hires, it seems as if Napier will be focused on heavily recruiting Louisiana talent which seems to be an odd strategy considering how much talent will be in his backyard at Florida.
I have no doubt that he'll be able to poach some guys here and there from Louisiana but it doesn't seem to be a sustainable strategy, especially since Cristobal will be definitely recruiting Florida hard.

What is the point here? Isn't Raymond well respected and has recruited great players outside the state of LA?

If I were the head coach at UF, I would be all over the state of Florida reeling in all that talent. FSU is down and so has Miami for 15 years. Build up the relationships with the Florida high schools

Napier has more upside than Kelly

I'm sure he'll recruit Florida more heavily than anyone. It's always less challenging to recruit your state. However, what makes most classes elite are when you poach those few big-time recruits from a few other states, to go along with the solid in-state recruiting you have.
Corey Raymond will develop relationships in Florida. If you're good at recruiting, it doesn't always rely solely on the relationships you have. It's also being able to go into a home and recruit the parents as hard as the kids. That's a talent in itself. Fact is, some people are just more charismatic than others.

He won’t focus on LA kids.

Could be. He was on my top 3 of who I wanted as HC.
Dumb that LSU never even talked to him.

Kelly is much older.

He’s got himself a hell of a recruiting staff I’ll give him that. I just don’t know who is going to coach them once they get there

Kelly's upside is a possible NC. Can't really go much higher.

He’s bitter he wasn’t considered for the LSU job. He’ll be fired in 4 years.

How are the hires odd? He brought Juluke and Toney from UL. He got Raymond, a well respected CB coach and NATIONAL recruiter. There’s some guys being mentioned to fulfill the other 6-7 coaching spots that don’t have direct ties to LA. I think Napier is smart enough not to invest fully in LA talent. Not that it isn’t premium, he just won’t need to.

If Napier pulls Tosh Lupoi he will have two national recruiters and Lupoi has extensive west coast connections.

The previous coach was fired for not taking recruiting serious. Napier just hired one of the best recruiters in the country. Seems like a really smart hire.

Dude, Kelly isn't winning an NC at LSU.
And yeah, I know you'll look at that Gator head under my avatar and think I'm just shitposting, envious, or some combination of the two, but seriously... I would have lost my damn mind if we'd have hired Brian Kelly.
Let's look at his best year, 2018, all records season finishing when listed. Finishes based on AP when listed. Games:
1. Beats a No. 14 Michigan
2. Beats a 4-8 Ball State
3. Beats a 6-7 Vandy (barely)
4. Beats a 7-6 Wake Forest
5. Beats a 9-5 Stanford
6. Beats a 6-7 VaTech
7. Beats a 7-7 Pitt
8. Beats a 3-10 Navy
9. Beats a No. 21 Northwestern
10. Beats a 5-7 FSU
11. Beats a No. 15 Syracuse
12. Beats a 5-7 USC.
So up to this point, 58% of his schedule finished at .500 or below. And then.
13. Gets fricking bodied 30-3 by Clemson just like everyone said he would after playing a bullshite schedule.
2020 was even more of a joke. He beat 4 teams in the regular season that year who finished with a winning record and subsequently go his arse humiliated by Clemson (again) in the rematch before repeating the whole experience when Bama shite rocked ND in the Texas Rose Bowl. Seriously, add up the W/L record from that year for the teams they played. It's fricking pathetic.
Yeah, good luck with that guy.
The best win he has is beating LSU in the Citrus Bowl. I mean, is that what this is about? The only sure bet he seemed to be was beating LSU in the postseason. Is this all some weird Stockholm Syndrome thing y'all let go undiagnosed down there?

My guess is Lupoi will be a Gata,
especially with the Jacksonville Urban Meyer
experiment continuing to sink deeper
into the trash can.
