Id do anything to see us get to 40 wins this season. It used to be the norm, but now it feels like a tall task.
Feels like I maybe took how good Gamecock baseball was for granted sometimes.

15 years in a row and 17 of 19 from '98-'16.

I remind myself and others of this during the Astros current run. It's not normal to make the ALCS 6 years in a row, make 4 WS, and win 2 titles.

Sounds like State 2016-2021, SEC Championship, 5 straight Supers, 3 straight CWS, a national championship, and then... well y'all saw it

Seems unnecessary to mess with baseball because you’d still play a series with every team in the conference within 3 years (almost everyone after 2 years) keeping divisions. There obviously aren’t as many baseball fans but the fans there are care a lot about certain series, especially in the SEC West. I really don’t want to see LSU lose Ole Miss, Arkansas, or State from the yearly schedule. I imagine LSU would get State and Ole Miss if they are to create 2 permanent series.
I'd honestly prefer we go to playing 11 SEC series a year and keep everything else as is. You'd have your 7 permanents from your division and you'd play all 8 from the opposite division every 2 years.

That would create a nice little pod of 3. I kind of doubt it plays out like that though.

Thinking about rivalries for baseball is tough because I feel like fanbases other than Tennessee's are pretty cordial and friendly when it comes to the sport.

It would be a travesty if LSU and State aren't permanents. That's really the only true historical "rivalry" in SEC baseball given the sport really didn't take off in the league until those two schools starting investing resources in the 80s.
But I agree, that would be a nice little pod, although I hate Arkansas not being in there. Those 3 series are the ones I've circled every year for 20+ years. Alabama used to be there too, but they haven't figured it out since they pushed Jim Wells out.

2 permanent opponents also create a weird imbalance in the non-permanent rotation (8 non-perm series rotating between 13 schools).
You could fix it by having 5 permanents and 5 rotating (between 10 schools) and still playing everybody every other year.
