Some good opponents today.

I'll take Wofford over Georgia, J'Ville over Ole Miss, Georgia Tech over Auburn

2 permanent opponents also create a weird imbalance in the non-permanent rotation (8 non-perm series rotating between 13 schools).

to be fair, there already is a weird imbalance. Right now you play 6 permanent series against your division and then rotate the remaining 4 series among the 7 from the opposite division with no real rhyme or reason as to why. For instance, since the 2012 expansion LSU has had series with Florida in 2022, 2019, 2017, 2016, 2014, 2013, 2012. And they've played UGA in 2022, 2019, 2017, 2014, and 2012. They've had series against Tennessee in 2021, 2018, 2016, and 2014. So 7x against Florida, 5x against UGA, and 4x against Tennessee. It's been seemingly completely random who you play in the other division.

I guess I hadn't really noticed, but you're right, all the more reason to adopt something simpler

I remind myself and others of this during the Astros current run. It's not normal to make the ALCS 6 years in a row, make 4 WS, and win 2 titles.

This. Never take it for granted. We’re truly spoiled.

Better for the RPI to play them away.

Id do anything to see us get to 40 wins this season. It used to be the norm, but now it feels like a tall task.

Basically my entire childhood up until I left grad school we got to 40 wins, were perennially ranked (we might’ve fallen out a couple times at most), and were guaranteed to make the tournament, often as a regional host or even supers host. We set several regular and post season records along the way.

The idea that we’d be scrapping and fighting just to be a “bubble” team for so long would seem unfathomable not too long ago.

ETA: I like the idea of getting rid of divisions as well.

I am hopeful that the ship is being turned around. I really like this team so far, and the upgrades to the coaching staff.

pulling Wingo and Monte helps a lot imo.

Leggett being back in the dugout for Clemson must be helping us too.

that said SEC play is a different beast, we have to keep it rolling

Just noticed that TAMU starts conference play with #1 LSU, #2 UTk, and #3 Ole Miss. Yikes.

Around here that's just known as a regular SEC schedule something a tarhole wouldn't understand.

The ACC is nearly as good as the SEC. Both conferences have 8 or so ranked teams.

Lmao! Since 2009 the SEC has won the College World Series 7 times compared to the ACC's 1. In the SEC we only care about Championships not regular season rankings...well except for Tennessee that is.
