be the best QB of the CGM offensive era? Or was he just surrounded by a top notch offense? Is there an argument for another QB better than Nick?

I miss the days of, “man if Nick could only pass. Can’t wait for JJ to take the offense to the next level.”

Certainly Newton. Then Marshall. Not sure there’s much debate here

No doubt. I added a clarification. Under his watch as head coach. Agree with you 100%.

Marshall
Stidham
Nix
White
Johnson

It’s not like you’ve got a long list to choose from here.

What is best?

Do you mean which QB had a better passing season? Stidham

Which QB was more exciting? Marshall and it isn't even close

Marshall and Newton just absolutely knew how to run the read option. It was a thing of beauty watching both of them catching the lbers leaning the wrong way and running for 30 yds.

Yes. Next question.

Nick was #1 and its not even close

Nix will be light years better than Stidham

Nick was a bad mofo and should have been another NC winning QB

Nick’s skills, ability, and athleticism were unreal and his calmness is overlooked but he did not get rattled easily if at all.

With Cam, his size was half the threat. With Nick, he was as sneaky as any QB I've ever seen that ran it. And his acceleration was elite once he get into the whole. Each was great, but also had their own certain traits that made them great. And of course once they got it rolling and the defense was on their heels, it just snowballed.

I think I'd take Nix over Stidham. I guess we'll see this fall.

I wish Gus would let Nix run the read option in more games than
just Bama.

It really opens up the running game.

He did in the Kent State and Miss State games also, which just so happened to be the best the offense looked all season.

And it takes time to learn it, so more reps running would've been better. Marshall struggled with it early in his first season, then it clicked for him.

Agree with all If this. Well said.

He may not be the best QB under Gus but he’s still one of my favorite Auburn players of my lifetime at least.

Wasn't just Marshall

-Prosch really struggled early blocking in space, which was new for him

-Gus really struggled to realize Tre was our guy

- EJ never realized that Jake Holland should have been a backup
