I don’t understand the mindset that only male sports means anything. As Auburn alumni, we should cheer and hope for success in every sport that involves an Auburn team. I love watching women’s softball, soccer and any other sport. Sure, it might be more fun to watch football or men’s basketball, but let’s not discount what our Auburn women do for us. And as a dad of two girls who are both athletes, frick you.

It’s bad at the current level we play at, but good women’s ball is fun.

Fly War Eagle (citing a Tweet from someone with The War Report) says former Tennessee coach Kelly Harper may be in the mix.

Played under Pat Summit, never had a losing record with the Lady Vols but didn't do much in post season either.

Speculation is she would want something comparable to what UT was paying her (1.1 million). Does Auburn value women's hoops that much?

Yep that should be the criteria female and minority over ability.

Need to make sure all players are LGBT+ as well you know cause that is the important stuff.

I'd be curious to know if Mr. Kittens has been accurate on anything in the past or if he just throws stuff on the wall hoping something sticks.

Would be rather bizarre to spend 1+ mil to poach a coach that has been rather mediocre at Arizona the last couple years. Whatever I guess, but I would think taking a chance on a top flight assistant and hope to get lucky would be our best play.

With all due respect to the ladies and the many great things they bring to this world, good basketball is not one of them.

niversity officials are focusing in on making a female/minority hire

So the university is committed to a DEI hire for women's basketball?

That's when I was in grad school at Auburn.

Went to several games a season... they were fun to watch... winning helps.

Wasn't LaTech our nemesis at this time? Or is my memory fading even more...

You are correct, LaTech along with Tenn were our nemesis at the time. We lost to LaTech in the finals in 87-88, then we beat them in the final four in 88-89 and lost to Tenn in the finals. Beat LaTech in the final four in 89-90 and lost to Stanford in the finals. Also lost to Tenn in 86-87 in the elite eight with Tenn winning the championship that year. We were basically the Bills of women's cbb.

I was in middle school myself, but definitely enjoyed watching the Ruthie Bolton and Vickie Orr era teams. It was a great time to be watching all Auburn basketball since the Men were in the tournament every year too at that time.

Girls BB was good back then. They actually played unlike today's game at least in my opinion. There were many teams that developed players. It seems like today there are only a few teams that attract the talented players and the rest is crap. Don't know if it just isn't popular today or coaching. But we should be able to put up some Money for a team. If they become good they can make some money for the team.
