Sat through the 2nd half of the AU vs UF game just to see if they could possibly get a win against a conference bottom dweller. Yet another 2nd half collapse mercifully ended the season for them. I used to attend the women's games in college and even went to 3 or 4 a year during the Nell Fortner seasons with Bonner. It is amazing how bad this program has been the past decade and it doesn't appear things are going to change anytime soon. I realize when AU was great during the Ciampi years there was nowhere near the commitment to the women's game across the country there is today but it doesn't look like AU is even trying to compete.

I don't see why we can't hire some super amazing coach at one of these lesser sports and be dominant at. It's time to move on from harris for sure

She was a Vic Schaffer disciple so worth the try.

I think what you have right now is the top 10 to 12 teams get most of the top 50 players and after that the rest of these girls can barely play. I was flipping the channel the other day and saw Michigan and Illinois Women's game and these chicks could barely dribble they got down there they basically threw the ball up at The Rim you couldn't even really call it shooting.

I was aguest coach at one of the women's games this year. They just don't have enough talent across the board. Maybe NIL will trickle down to them and help bring more in. Until then, I'm not sure any coach will sustain success here.

Honestly hope we don’t throw a ton of money at anyone right now while NIL is still the Wild West. Same goes for any other sport that doesn’t have any shot at actually generating revenue. If/when NIL gets some structure it will be a different story, but until then we need all the funding we can put towards FB and MBB.

Prior to Trump getting elected and the cultural tides shifting, I wanted Auburn to recruit a team full of transgender athletes for the women's team. Crush everyone on the way to a national championship, and then force the NCAA to make a ruling on men in women's sports so that no one could do what we just did again.

Otherwise my opinion is: don't waste money on women's basketball, because I really don't care if we are good or not.

We could fill a team with quality Asian women and not spend much at all.

That Deng girl looked pretty good, making freshman list(s), and trans.. you decide.

JH has been fired. And despite some obviously silly comments a good team makes money.

Good timing on this thread. Harris just got fired. They might have a name lined up already.

Harris seems like good person, but they should have won more games this year. They brought in some players, had some players coming back. There was no excuse to be as bad as they we're.

Auburn has fired Head Women’s Basketball Coach Johnnie Harris after 4 seasons on the Plains.

Harris went 58-63 as Auburn’s Head Coach and made 1 NCAA Tournament.
There appears to be a front runner already to replace Harris. I’ll be reporting out on her potential replacement this afternoon.

Used to have one when I was there Joe Ciampi was the coach. We were in the tourney every year I was there,

1984–85 Joe Ciampi 25–6 5–3 (3rd) NCAA Tournament
1985–86 Joe Ciampi 24–6 6–3 (T-2nd) NCAA Sweet Sixteen
1986–87 Joe Ciampi 31–2 8–1 (1st) NCAA Elite Eight
1987–88 Joe Ciampi 32–3 9–0 (1st) NCAA Runner-Up

Take a look at his record while he was there... LINK

Keep an eye on Grand Canyon’s coach. Molly Miller. I heard her name floated back in December January.

She’s a good coach.

Sam Purcell from Miss St is another name I’ve heard.

Yeah, just looking at the title of this, Women's BB seems to be one of the few sports that is not up, doing well, this year, hopefully, other than what we did in football last year, so it was bound to happen.

Looks like Sam Purcell at MSU is one of the leading contenders.

Do us all a favor and leave these idiotic comments in your head.

No one cares that you don't like women's basketball. There are plenty of us that support our women's teams and want to see Auburn do well in everything.
