I know this is a off season thread but I've been thinking about this lately. Reggie Bush got a few carries in the 03 game In JHS.

I remember Brett Favre playing in I think 89. His team was shite but it was apparent he was going to be a good one. I am glad I did not see them play that next year.

I think Dion Sanders played for FSU at Auburn in '87

We had to run for over 400 to beat Maryland back in '83. (Agee, Train and Bo) Boomer Esiason had a hell of a performance. I was at that game and Boomer is one of the very best college QB's I ever saw in person. Can't stand the dude, but he was a hell of a player.

Herschel Walker is my pick. Emmitt Smith is a close second

Johnny Football looked like an absolute god against us in 2012. Granted, so did a lot of people...

Has to be Herschel or Reggie in terms of greatest college careers though

Fred Talley just stopped running for a few seconds to say high. Maybe not the best, but on that day you could have fooled me.

Hershel Walker would be #1 here. Brett Farve, Deion Sanders, Darren McFadden, Emmitt Smith, Reggie White, Calvin Johnson, Champ Bailey would all be up there as well.

I saw Hershel in 1982 when Bo was a freshman at AU.

Hershel was an all time great.

I saw Boomer Esiason for Maryland in 1983.

Dave Remington for Nebraska in 1982 impressed me.

The Florida team in 1985 had a bunch of NFL players. Wilbur Marshall stood out.

ESPN did a bit several years ago about the future NFL talent on the field for the 1983 AU-UF game. Seems like 60 or 70 guys from those two teams ended up on NFL rosters.

No question in my mind, it’s Sean Alexander from the 4th qtr of the 1999 Iron Bowl.

I would rank Herschel as # 1 myself. Certainly the most legendary, considering what uga did when he was there, the Heisman, and the lore which surrounded his career.

Funniest thing is how recently FOX Sports ranked the top player from each state. Oddly, imo, they chose Cam Newton over Herschel for GA. Love some Cam, but c'mon now...

Emmitt, Henry, Herschel. I seent them. Many more I'm sure I'm forgetting. I remember Favre too in '90. IIRC he was good but mostly known for the huge arm he had. They beat us 13-10 or something like that. That was when the Eric Ramsay stuff was in the air.

I saw this later on video, but Emmitt was crying on the sideline after we beat them 14-10, and the rumor always was that he regretted signing with UF. For those that don't remember, Emmitt Smith was all but a lock to sign with AU, but some SEC things happened leading up to signing day. If those Dye teams would have had Emmitt there may have been a Natty or two in the trophy case. Instead we "settled" for SEC Championships.

Emmitt went 0-3 vs Auburn.

Dude got a huge ovation at the Citrus Bowl half time when AU played USC after the '86 season, iirc.

For clarification, who was the best non-Auburn player or what non-Auburn player had the best game in JHS?

If it's the best non-Auburn player it'd have to be Herschel Walker since he's probably the best college player of all time.
