Which decade do you want more 2000-2009, 2010-2019?

The Gus decade

How about 2004-2014?

I enjoyed the Tubberville years as well and I know its more fresh on our mind but the past 10 years have had the most memorable moments. By far.

So many great things happened and some very bad things.

same, i was far more frustrated with Tubs than I ever was with Chizik and Malzahn. Chizik and Malzahn seem to win 95% of the games that they should, Tubs would always lose one that he shouldn't. And I'm not talking about having a lead at LSU and losing the game, I'm talking about losing to USF at home or back to back GT losses.

So give me 2001-2010:

- 2 undefeated seasons
- 1 national championship
- 1 Heisman Trophy
- 2 RBs taken in the top-5 of the same draft
- 6-straight against Alabama
- 3 crazy UF upsets
- 0 winless SEC seasons
- 0 whirlybirds

So the fundamental question here is Tuberville or Gus, right?

For all the disappointment under Gus's tenure, it's because he and Chizik raised the expectations here. We've been in the top-10 every season that he's been here, right?

2004-2006 was fun but the ride that Gus has taken us on has been something else.

I'm not sure there's really a choice here.

No, not really. I agree the expectations are higher now and they should be. Gus has raised the level of the program and people should expect better things.

There are goods and bads of both but our highs were higher in the last 10 years even without 2010.

I was probably less frustrated in the Tubs years. And CFB seemed more pure/organic than it does now.

But I don't think it's a coaching thing. Everything has gotten sort of CFP or bust now, and it's made the game less fun. In prior decades we'd all get fairly jacked up for any SEC game, perhaps save Vandy. Now Ole Miss, Arky (and sometimes UT, SCAR, etc.) are looked at as stepping stones and mere "games that might trip you up" instead of meaningful SEC matchups.

In some ways that's good, we've stayed in the contingent of programs expected to win those games. But IMO it kind of shortens the season in a way, and given our lack of success against the big 3 games we care about, it's made a lot of the Gus era lackluster.
