I agree completely. He needs to trust his recievers and accept that sometimes it doesn't work.

I think that is why Singleton is getting so many targets. One, the guy catches anything thrown to him, but he also knows to adjust his route and knows Arnold sees what he is looking at. Ive seen him sit down in a zone, take a crossing route more shallow than intended, etc.

On the other hand I saw that pass bounce three feet behind Perry before he even turned around, obviously ran the wrong pattern. And an earlier game where Simmons made an acrobatic catch that would have been an easy one if he had slowed down when he hit the soft spot of the zone.

Need more. We need more deep shots folks… we sit exactly on the SEC average at 11% of plays are deep pass plays (20 yards+).

Yall are delusional if yall think Arnold has shown yall enough to show he can win conference games with his arm.

When I am on board I am locked in but for now I need more tape.

Baylor and USA weren't anything to point to and hapless Ball State gave 10 yard cushion

I disagree about ours db’s, well the corners at least. I expect the secondary problems to get fixed.

Despite our defensive issues we only give up 13 points per game. Dunkin’s bend don’t break style.

Seems like a lot of the secondary issues can be chalked up to Durkin playing with different lineups. There were a few names back there on Saturday that I'd never heard.

Hitting the meat of the schedule, I'd expect to see a more consistent (personnel- and execution-wise) defensive backfield.

No one is saying he can or can’t win with his arm. But he brings some dog with him in the run game. The QB power run game has made a huge difference in this offense.

That’s why you go get a dual threat QB.
To win with his arm and legs.

Dual threat QBs that can throw and run are championship caliber players.

If the defense stacks the box the QB has to make them pay and then we are cooking with gas

Arnold is nearly as good at read-option as Marshall was, I'm just not sure if we've developed a passing option that will keep better defenses off the line. I think he hangs onto the ball far too long in passing situations and also our receivers have trouble getting separation... both very familiar problems with Auburn offenses.

Offensive line is greatly improved from last year and we've run the ball well against lesser opponents. I expect that we will have much less success doing so as we get into SEC play. Cobb is a good back, but I haven't seen a huge amount of burst out of him.

Defense, the line looks good. Tackling is not. And the secondary, right now, looks like a liability.

I think we're clearly an improved team from the last couple of seasons, but I'm not sure how much. Oklahoma will clear that up a lot. If I had to project out based on what I've seen, I'm guessing about a 7 win season. Hopefully we find our answer in the passing game and the secondary gets it together... then we could be very competitive in a much more balanced SEC.

I was at the game and I don't think I saw Jay Crawford play a snap in the 2nd half. I was hoping there was no injury. I know Ball State didn't throw any his way. I'm not sure if South Alabama did either.

ETA: just looked at snap count - Jay Crawford only played 24 snaps.

I think we will know by about 4PM on Saturday how the rest of the season will go. This game could go like AU-Texas A&M 2013 at best, or like any number of games in the past 5 years or so where we come out and look like crap.

Our RB room is average AF

Offense line is great

Jackson Arnold great so far

Cam Coleman slightly overrated

Eric S. Jr. Best WR on the team. Deserving of the hype.

Defensive Line - Better than expected

Faulk - Overhyped again

I probably agree with this. Even if Auburn loses, it will be how they lose that will give us all the answers needed. Oklahoma’s defense is for real. If Auburn doesn’t look completely lost on offense, I think they’ll be competitive in every game this season.

Ooof. The third clip, my god. Two posts wide open. They ran the exact same play again a while later in the game and threw it to the guy at the bottom of the formation. I just don’t get what the plan is there.

What is really disappointing about those clips is it is not like the QB has all day and it is making it hard on the coverage. Those are quick passes and the coverage is just not there from the get go,

Yep, we aren't challenging routes, Baylor was no different. First read is usually there every time. Even if we wanted the DL to do better, rarely is the QB holding the ball long enough for them to be able to do much. South Alabama's QB has done that all season. He was 12/14 and 17/24 in the two games prior to ours, so he is a really efficient QB, but man did we just not make anything look difficult.

That's my bigger concern. The backend, we just seem to watch and shaddow people. I remember watching a lot of practice clips in fall camp with our guys attacking to receiver and the ball, something I hadn't seen in a while. Game gets here, and we aren't doing it again.

All of you guys need to keep in mind that true freshmen played 150 total snaps vs USA. Most of those came on D. At one point, we had 8 TFR and RSFR on the field at one time on D.

Ball State, well, they sucked.

Baylor will be one of the best 3-4 offenses we play all year in the end, and that was first game.

We MAY not be as bad as we have looked. We will know a lot more in the next two weeks.

The 4th one is really bad for the LBer too. I think it is Woodyard. Dude just stands there bouncing and let's at least 2 guys run right by him without so much as laying a hand on them. Do they not teach to try and jam that TE or H-back so he doesn't get a free release? Chipping that man does 2 things: He isnt running full speed when he gets close to the safety and it disrupts the timing with the QB.

Hell, he didn't even drop into a zone. He literally stood there and didn't touch a soul.

Was Charles Kelly that much of a difference maker? We might have dropped the ball with his replacement
