Call me superstitious, or maybe just stupid, but going after another offensive minded head coach spooks me a bit.

Over the last 40+ years, Auburn's greatest successes have come during, or immediately after, the tenure of a defensive minded head coach.

Apologies if I have posted this before. I know I have commented it a couple of times but don't remember what apps/sites/boards.

I’m rooting for Brohm out of this group, and he has real interest in the job. But he also has interest in the PSU job.

And people need to quit worrying about Durkin’s feelings. Let him go if he and his new boss don’t get along.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm not completely opposed to Fisher. I'd rather have him over Durkin and Kelly, and none of the other people on the candidate list are overly impressive, either.

Fisher had a very good tenure at Florida State. And while he didn't have the same success at Texas A&M, it wasn't as bad as people say it was:

2018: 9-4
2019: 8-5
2020: 9-1
2021: 8-4
2022: 5-7
2023: 6-4

His last two seasons at Texas A&M were not good, but the rest of his resume is much better than any other candidate we're considering.

If it was Fisher, are there any guesses as to who the OC would be?

I think it’s a 5% chance or lower.

Jimbo is just a more-accomplished Freeze. All the way down to being a supposed "QB guru" who's QB's all looked like shite at the end of his most recent tenure.

He is also a complete scumbag. frick that guy. You wanna hire the guy who got D.Craig to negative recruit by insinuating that Auburn was racist? Now he wants a job here?

If the ptb force feed us another washed up has been dog shite coach in fisher, then they must be secretly Bama fans trying to steal money from Auburn and funnel it to their buddies

There is no current booster at Auburn who is Bobby Lowder. Or even close. Cohen's job is to listen to every stupid idea and then convince everyone on the best actual hire, as he is supposed to be the expert. He's not getting told who to hire; none of the boosters are that active.

Fisher is fun to hear talk. He knows a shotload of football history (including a ton about AU), but he is too old for me. His offensive system is outdated as well (it's basically 90s Florida State or Tot's AU offense).

He also runs a very undisciplined program from an off-field perspective. He kept the "Criminole" thing going at FSU and had the same thing at TAMU.

Give me a guy in his 40's please. (Or 30s in the case of Dilly). I want AU to find their own up and coming coach who will have his breakout here.

Lots of valid concerns about Fisher.

If that list of coaches is what we have to choose from, then it's a little bit disappointing.

I suppose Dillingham could be decent.

How did that work out at TAMU?

And he had Durkin as his DC.

Pass.

Did Dye settle lawsuits about abuse and a toxic program? Dismiss it if you want, but we ripped LSU over a kid dying on Kelly's watch when they hired him. What happened on Durkin"s watch is worse. He's a bad incident waiting to happen. That's one area Auburn does NOT need help in

That reminds me of something a guy I work with told me. He is Candi Fisher's (Jimbo's ex wife) cousin and told me that he once went to dinner with Jimbo in Auburn when he was OC. Jimbo drove, and the entire back seat was filled with shoe boxes and those cardboard file boxes that were stuffed with hand drawn plays and notes. He had to clear the passenger seat and put several boxes in his trunk too. Said he was one of the most disorganized slobs he has ever met in his life.

He said that Jimbo did nothing but think about football back then. I dont think that is the case anymore with the amount of money he has made and how much his ego grew over his career. And I think Auburn needs a HC that is one of those guys who is solely focused on football 24/7. The culture that Auburn had throughout the Dye years to the 2000s is totally gone. I realize it is a completely different era but you can instill that toughness, competitive fire and hard-nosed attitude while still being a "player's coach" that commands respect feom players at the same time. It is a thin line to walk but guys like Kirby and Cignetti pull it off well. Jimbo doesn't come close to striking me as that kind of guy. Maybe he was at some point but not anymore.

I catch Jimbo sometimes on one of the Siriux-XM CFB shows (Ch 84).

His comments are interesting and as someone posted above, he knows football.

But he is hard to listen to and somehow oozes slime while talking....

Hard pass.

On paper, Brohm would be a homerun hire imo. If he really is interested, that is very exciting.
