Funny Lane has his own betting odds...but is also included in LSU. Surprised at the Odds on PSU with the two very close

Yes I would think so.

All this blah blah blah for 15 pages confirms this:
The best “bet” for a head coach that is available is Kiffin who is also a petulant child that can’t make up his mind.
Everyone else has positives and negatives.
Given all that - I would prefer to hire like our rivals hire. A proven up and coming SEC coordinator (like Kirby) OR a up and coming coach that has won everywhere he has coached. (Like Deboar)
-Not a 5-19 coach.
-Not a guy with one year at Arkansas state.
-Not a guy who was decent in the WAC.
-Not a guy from Samford.
-Not a guy with questionable character.
But a guy that played football in the SEC and is a hard arse. A guy that is intense and knows how important running the ball and stopping the run are.
A guy like Coach Dye.
That exact type guy will be here in 5 days.
And Auburn will be better because of it.

Funny sidenote. I took history with Dr. Kicklighter, Barfield's daughter (smoking hot) sat in front and the doc gave her special attention, even loaned her is book to study, which had every answer to exam questions highlighted (he never asked a question about his lectures). I took the opportunity to make her my study buddy....ole Trini did well in history, not so much with the daughter

-Not a guy with one year at Arkansas state. Who won the SEC; played for a natty; played for the SEC again; achieved a #1 ranking, and had the best record of any coach the country against the GOAT
I'd take either one of those guys again, IF they could make us competitive.

I've seen quite a few claims (mainly by "insiders" on X) that the contract with the new coach has been signed. We can all question their veracity, but they do all share the same ambiguity: they don't say who it is. I just find that strange.

I had history with a man named Newton, IF I remeber correctly.
I had to do 1 year of history, and a military history course.
It was all well presented.
Kicklighter was a student favorite, but I never had him.
I think he wore bow ties?
Long time ago.

I don’t believe anything has been signed yet, but I expect it to get rolling really quickly as soon as the iron bowl is over.

If sumrall understands that he has to recruit out of his mind then he has a shot. If he shows up thinking his system and toughness will get the job done he'll fail like Harsin.
This is my concern. If he thinks he going to come in here and out tough everyone he's going to get his eyes beat out by the teams with all the 5 stars lol

For you folks, he is referring to the fact she did a War Eagle Jeans ad, and his post is a play on Sydney Sweeney. Well played sir.
Sorry to hijack I just hadnt thought about that in years. I remember one Friday I showed up for class, big auditorium with 200-300 seats, I think I was still drunk from the night before. Fell asleep, half way through the class I wake up to a tap on my shoulder, ole Kicklighter had walked up the steps across my row and tapped me. When I woke up he said "you might want to stay awake im about to make a good point". Then flamboyantly turned and walked back down to the podium, to the howl of the class.
Back to the thread, if Cohen says a new coach will be announced within 24 hours of the Iron Bowl, we must already have a MOU with someone, and in that case I bet its Sumrall.

He played in the SEC and coached at UK and Ole Miss. I'd be shocked if he doesn't understand the value of recruiting.
Harsin played and coached mostly in a small, not terribly competitive conference at a program that had a winning tradition through several coaching administrations. It was a gift-wrapped winning program. I do think he was a decent coach, just an a-hole and he - and likely the man who hired him - had a chip on their shoulder from the start about the boosters. Not a great formula for success. Freeze, on the other hand, was a scheme guy who feasted off rules loopholes same as Malzahn. (Although I think Gus had a much better understanding of the game) He recruited well but his talent evaluation was about as poor as Gus.
