I would agree with you IF THORNE wasn't getting paid but he is. His performance is lacking so yeah...not holding up his end of the bargain. Now did we overpay or underpay? Who knows...but there were a couple of others that were out there that were good. Hope Hank steps up and takes it.

Well, you were right dude. I thought Peyton could be solid with better talent and I was dead wrong.

Part of me thinks starting Hank is meant to light a fire under Thorne more than anything.

Problem is stress seems to bring the worst out of him. If Hank plays well (or at least takes care of the football) I doubt they go back to Thorne.

This is largely irrelevant. He isnt even get paid to do anything. Proctor got paid at Iowa then literally went back to Bama and aint nothing they can do about it.

If they are mad at their investment go find a mom and pop mutual fund

Not the point. The point is that criticizing him in the press isn't that inappropriate anymore as they are now paid. I don't really care about him being called out in the press...He is being paid pretty well to do a job that he isn't doing.

Yeah, we’re a school that’s paid a lot of money for coaches not to coach.

Not sure why we’d be too upset to pay a struggling player not to play. We could stiff players like Florida and become a pariah, I guess.

I didn’t think it would happen, but honestly excited. I think Hank could be a perfect fit for this team. We apparently had receivers running open all over the place last week, and Thorne just didn’t see it. I want to get back to relying on our running game and let Hank just be a gunslinger that hits open guys and takes shots downfield off play action.

Thorne would have put up huge numbers this weekend and wouldn’t have meant anything if he can’t do it against competent defenses. Let’s see what Hank can do with these receivers.

But more than likely he’s not.

I tried tell yall all week it was coming. Thought Thorne might get a series or two, but this was fully expected.

I think Hanks a bit more of a gunslinger.. I think that could be better for us over someone trying to be too careful all the time.

Hoke is the only one saying this as far as I can tell. I'm not saying he is wrong but ON3 has a track record of jumping the gun and being wrong

I don't expect to see Hank come out and be a star at all but hard to see him not giving us a better chance to win. PT just hasn't executed even the little things well in the passing game. Gotta make the easy plays to give ourselves a chance.

On the other hand, Hank is probably less a threat in the RO game.

Freeze is capitulating to the masses calling for Thorne's head

Seems risky. Considering he didn't know what to do with the offense last season, making decisions to appease us (knowing we could get back into a yo-yo thing) hastens the road to a hot seat IMO.

I have to assume this has nothing to do with what we want. My question is whether he's committed to this for beyond New Mexico (barring disaster), or whether it's a genuine trial balloon. The latter has risks I would think, it's not like Thorne is necessarily in perfect headspace to begin with.

They babied him long enough. Time to treat him like a man and see if he responds like a man.

Sounds like the only advantage PT had over Hank was his advanced understanding of the playbook in practices. Thorne was better handling the more complicated things Freeze wants to do. But when he stripped the offense of the complications to run this smaller package he referenced things evened out. And if the pressure and his head are getting to him now that the flames are solar level, and he's fricking up in practice while running this smaller package.............

Or maybe when it just comes down to who can make these throws and run this offense at its base level, just raw quarterback talent, none of the pre-snap shite involved, maybe Hank's balls are just more pure

This. We just need average QB play. PT is below average.

That's exactly what I called him after he played in the first game. Yes, it was against a far inferior opponent, but he just looks like he's in full command of the offense. You can see the confidence that his body language projects.

We'll see where it goes, but at least he looks like he knows what the hell he's doing.

I hope our ginger gunslinger never relinquishes his spot at starting QB. If that happens, it means we're playing better and winning.

That'd be a welcomed sight.
