yup, I am/was not a fan of petrino, but if he wins, all will be forgiven. His biggest trangression is not the cheating act itself, but the cover-up.

Are you serious? Gus has no passing attack other than bubble screens and fly patterns!!

Gus is a good football coach. He would win 8 games next year with the talent on the team.
What talent? Gus is a horrible horrible scout of talnet, and even worse scout of character.

Gus won't be hired

Right, because he was the head coach at AU the last 4 yrs. Werent you the one claiming people we're retarded for critizing Chizik for meddling on both sides of the ball? If I remember, you said "He's the GD head coach, he can do what he wants!" Well, if he's the GD head coach, seems like he had the final say on what type of recruit was bring targeted for his team, and the final say so on who gets a scholly.

but don't think Auburn wants to risk the image hit we would take
which is the problem with auburn. For some reason we think we're different. We're not, we're a football school that needs to win. Auburn family, auburn man, that's all bullshite.

So we do have a pro malzhan sect of our fanbase...Good grief.
I'm all for blaming chiz for everything that went wrong with auburn. So now the question turns to what has gus done to prove he can be a head coach that can win championships at auburn.
To me the answer to that is nothing.

Just to be clear. I would support Malzahn if Peterson, Pattersen, Petrino and Fisher(s) turned us down. Malzahn>Smart if I'm choosing between these two.
ETA
He's down the list for me

Petrino is the only candidate that has proven he can win in the SEC as a HC, and he did it with average talent. Everyone else is an unknown in our conference which is why I want Petrino and only Petrino.

I completely agree. I won't be down on a patterson hire and long term he could prove be a better option but it's still a risk.

I'd add in out routes, but your point is still well taken.

I'm OK with Malzahn as long as we went after and struck out with Peteresen, Patterson, Petrino, Fisher in that order.

Why not go after Nick Saban? If anything go after him just to make Bama give him a bigger contract make the Roll Mullets spend more money.

Why not go after Nick Saban?
1. He won't leave.
2. That further imprints the notion that we just want to be Bama.

Here's PM's update as of 12:50
12:50 p.m.
* The question has been often asked in recent days. How will the process of deciding who will be offered Auburn's head coaching job work? We have talked to people in position to know. Here it is:
The search committee of athletics director Jay Jacobs, former Heisman Trophy winners Bo Jackson and Pat Sullivan and highly successful businessman Mac Crawford, who played for Shug Jordan, will conduct interviews, discuss the pros and cons of each candidate and eventually have a vote. Whoever they choose will be the recommendation Jacobs takes to president Jay Gogue.
Jackson, Sullivan and Crawford made it clear from the start that they would not be part of a committee that was any kind of "window dressing."
There have been and will be all kinds of rumors, but that's how the process will work.
* UCLA coach Jim Mora, we are told, is not likely to be a serious candidate going forward.
* We believe there is a candidate, maybe more than one, who has not been mentioned in speculation. Who? That, we don't know.
