I don't think either of them are realistic options this time around, I was just saying those were my choices at the time. Not sure who my realistic candidate would be this time around. Our window of options gets smaller and smaller by every 2-3 year dumpster fire..

I heard Bobby Petrino is getting an interview.

Here me out:
HC experience-check
Def minded-check
Elite recruiter-check
Sec experience-check
Coached a Heisman winning QB-check
Won a NC-check
If you're thinking Jimbo ....you are wrong....I am speaking of the true innovator that brought us the invention of "The Shacket". There it is... Come on home, Chiz
I. Half joking but I honestly would take him back over half the people being mentioned

Head coaches:
Brent Key - 47 years old. Alabama native (but Ga Tech alum)
Sumrall - 42 years old
Alex Golesh - 41 years old. He is Russian and will bring Vodka to practice.
Coordinators:
Kirby Moore - 35 years old. The OC for Drink at Mizzou. Not an OC in name only, but actually calls plays. Mizzou has a top 10 offense this year.
Mike Shanahan - Mid 30's. The OC for Cignetti at Indiana. Cignetti brought him from his previous job so he obviously likes the dude.
Will Stein - 36 years old. The OC for Lanning at Oregon.
Blake Baker - 43 years old. Highest paid DC. The only downside is he was with Harsin at two stops (Arky St and Boise), so not sure how that will factor in (either for him or for AU).
Before you say "I don't want a coordinator" consider coordinators in history who have went straight to major programs and won.
Personally I like Sumrall. I have watched some of his pressers and he seems well put together. Looks like a football coach, not a nerd. Brent Key is right there too for me.

If that list is the best Auburn can do, we might as well stick with Freeze.

Good. With him and Durkin we'd be in the playoffs.
Also Deuce Knight would pick up a Heisman.

How is he interviewing when we have a coach?

If Freeze is returned this is who I want as OC I mentioned it a couple weeks ago….

Why would Kirby Moore leave Missouri when it would be a near certainty that Freeze and the entire staff will likely be fired in 2026 even if he does survive this year? You are going to see major roster turnover in the scenario that Freeze somehow survives, and the schedule next season is brutal - meaning that its highly likely that you are just going to see a repeat of this season.
You may be able to get some small-school OC "up and comer" to take the risk, but an SEC OC at a school that is doing extremely well right now? That guy isn't leaving to come to Auburn so he can get shite-canned a year later.

He makes $1.3 million this season. You're not going to pay him enough money to basically take-on an ~80% chance that he's going to be looking for a new job once Freeze and everyone else inevitably gets fired in 2026.
Sorry, not happening. If he really wanted to leave Missouri for more money he could surely find a school where the HC isn't basically just waiting for the guillotine to drop. There is no reason for someone like that to end up at Auburn under Hugh Freeze.

$2m and he would walk to Auburn to be able to separate himself from Drink and still run his offense.
Power run game mixed with multiple tempo with quick game and deep pass game. Sounds like an Auburn offense to me

No one is coming to AU to be an OC under Freeze. That would be a career mistake if not career killer for a young OC. Metafour is correct as usual. People just get their panties in a bunch because metafour talks mean to them.

People say we can't get anyone good, but I think either Sumrall or Golesh would do very well here. Sumrall is probably my favorite. That guy is a winner. Heck of a coach.
