Look i love Cam like everyone else does, it just really bothers me seeing people say Cam had NO HELP. Yea I get it no one besides him on offense went to the nfl. But darvin adams, t Zach, Emory Blake, kodi, dyer, mccalebb, & the entire OLINE were really good college players. Ive seen this over the years of people talking down about these guys. It bother anyone else?

I still can’t believe what went on with Dyer. He had everything he needed to be a stud. You don’t see very many true freshman RBs go over 1000 yards on the ground especially in major conferences.

We were really good upfront on both sides of the football.

Offensive line was experienced. Defensive line had Fairley and some big mean dudes- Blanc, Carter, Goggans, and others.

Bynes was an NFL LB for a decade.

The defense came up with stops at crucial times.

Mario Fanning was an elite athlete. Dyer was really good.

Darwin Adams was a warrior. Emory Blake was a good WR. Kodi delivered some key plays. Zachary was FAST!

The kicking game was really good with Byrum.

Cam was a generational player, but you are right, there were several solid football players around him.

We had some nice pieces here and there for sure, but if Cam had gotten hurt and Barrett Trotter from Briarwood Christian had been our QB, that team wins 7 games tops.

I can’t remember, did he get canned for using the Devil’s Lettuce?

He won three games by himself.

I cannot get enough of the Nick Fairley perfectly clean sacks of Aaron Murray in the 2010 UGA game. And the fact that Aaron Murray's mother was still complaining them about a decade later! Legend!

I am sure there are several from that team that is tired of hearing "Cam dragged a bunch of nobodies to the NC."

And they should.

But mainly when people say stuff like that they are mainly using the offensive roster's lack of NFL talent, and not including who we had on defense.

Bynes, Fairley, and Thorpe played a lot of years in the NFL.

The offensive skill players were fan favorites but dime a dozen compared to NFL talent

College stars lacking enough NFL measurables serving their roles.

McCallebb was a huge part of our success. His gimmicks opened up our offense. Dyer might've had pro potential if fame didn't get to his head. Our OL were experienced but each apparently couldn't find an NFL team. Many of those dudes sucked at getting penalized in previous years. Our receivers were either average in skill or average in production. Darvin performed the best but he was too slow.

But still all of those dudes know they were important to our wins that year and they shouldn't take the bait. There is a whole laundry list of dudes that deserve beer for life for that season. Even fumbling fannin was holding onto the ball that year. Those dudes after all are why Cam wanted to play like Auburn.

TLDR Terrell Zachary

That great season (breaking Bo's freshman rushing record, and winning the BCS game MVP) was probably the worst thing that could have happened to him at that stage of his life. What a knucklehead.

Doesn't bother me, but I thought that was one of the most interesting teams ever to watch grow and develop over the season. IMHO, largely they weren't that good the first few games, but they started playing up to Cam's level. The D definitely improved A LOT, holding Oregon to 19 points at the natty.

Cam was the guy that took that from a 8-9 win team to a national championship caliber team. Yeah there was some talent but Cam was *the* guy.

Oregon lines up for what should be a sure TD inside the 5 - was it on the 1? Fairley blows up the OL and tackles both QB and RB in the backfield to force a field goal. One of the most dominant plays I've ever seen.

Fairley was an absolute menace. You just accepted those personal fouls along with his dominance lol.

Don’t forget the play he made in the Iron Bowl when he obliterated McElcuck and recovered the fumble in the red zone.

I mean look at this shite. Right up there with the punch out as the most important play of the game.

How does the RG basically just chip Nick Fairley? Funny as hell.

Steen was in due to injury, and a freshman to boot. Blown assignment.

As a sophomore in high school I had the luxury of running second team TE against the first team D. I completely ate shite on a down block and knew it immediately. Hal Riddle grabbed me by the facemask and said “don’t do that shite again” lol.

So I can sympathize lol.

Such is life. One of those unfortunate realities is that a blown assignment in the trenches can turn out just as badly as a blown assignment in the secondary. Steen learned that the hard way.

If Dyer doesn’t get in trouble and basically throw it all away, I think he would have went on and played in the NFL for a while. He was a really really good running back.
