It’s still not clear to me why Shariffe hasn’t been practicing. Practicing while ineligible isn’t a crime.... because he is still enrolled. So you would think he would still be practicing scout team just in case his eligibility is reinstated down the road. I’ve mentioned this before and this keeps getting side stepped.
Whats your theory?

I don’t have one. I just don’t know why he isn’t allowed to practice when he should be able to.

Coach Wes Flanagan had a tweet that sends positive vibes that Cooper will eventually get to play.

The only thing I can think of is that his amateur status could be in question with the NCAA.. in which case he wouldn’t be able to practice, right? Not totally sure though..

LINK

Acording to this, I think he would be allowed to practice since we are in the process of appealing his eligibility.

When Cooper comes back I think our best starting lineup would be:

PG - Cooper
SG - Powell
SF - Flannigan
PF - Williams
C - Stretch

It's early, but not sure about this. Fat white guy from SJU took it around him all game. That was not promising.

He hasn't received his initial eligibility ruling is my understanding.

He can play. No doubt. But driving by him every single possession?

Practicing a position and actually playing in a game are 2 different things. Jones is basically 2 games into his college career. He is a very good athlete and good shooter in practice. He has upside but to what degree is an unknown. Johnson is in his 3rd year of playing time and had a year to sit out and work on his game. He is what he is at this point. Not a great deal of room from improvement. It's a similar situation to Harper's freshman year. KC was the better player at that time but we weren't playing for that season. We were playing for the future so we took some lumps and lost some games that we probably win with KC. We're not going anywhere this season so why play someone that you know doesn't fit into future plans any more than you have to? Play the guy with potential to help you win down the road and take your lumps as they come.

Flanigan is playing the 2 out of necessity. He wouldn't be there if we were full strength but I will admit he has done much better there than I thought he could. He's really improved his shot and put in th work in the weight room as well.

That has to be better than being cleared then not.

Maybe. Either way it seems the Cooper's have lawyered up The NCAA asked to see their financials from the past 5 years and they said no. Maybe it's my years as an Auburn fan that conditioned me to always expect the worst talking but I doubt we ever see him in an Auburn uniform. I hope I'm wrong

Agreed. I’d be shocked to see him suit up for us. Sucks because he was a core component of our 2 year outlook

I’m mentally preparing for the same and it sucks. That was one of the areas we felt the best about going into this season. Turbo has had two assists in each game and Powell had zero against SJU and three against the Zags. So we are averaging a whopping 3.5 assists from the PG position and that just won’t cut it in a lot of games. We are going to struggle if the entire offense is iso ball and no one is creating good shots for players.

Maybe the coaches are just being abundantly cautious since I assume they are expecting probation from the NCAA

He's not even practicing. With Wiley and Purifoy they lost eligibility and weren't allowed to play but were always allowed to practice. This has nothing to do with Auburn imo. This is the NCAA simply being a bit of a dick.

Coopers dad being an agent as sketchy AF... I mean I don’t necessarily blame the guy, but you gotta admit it’s not good situation for AU... especially if they’re not giving requested info to the clearinghouse.

That’s their prerogative... but the dad has done his kid a disservice... at least for now.

That falls on BP, there's no excuse to only have 1 true point on the roster at this point. Yet Auburn has 5 people that could run the 2.

I don’t think him being an agent is inherently sketchy. He’s got connections to all kinds of elite players so it makes sense. I’m wondering if anything else is going on that hasn’t been made public.

I think everyone would agree. If Cooper isn’t a part of the team then we have to snag a GT or HS PG that can start next year, otherwise we are going to miss out on what could be an incredible year.

Uhh... that’s exactly what makes it sketchy
