He had some pretty clutch shots in our NCAAT games where he just blazed right by someone and laid it in because he was just faster than the opponent and his ability to hit 3s was up there with anyone so I’m just going to disagree strongly here.

And AU dropped to 32 on KenPom, below a 14-10 Wisconsin and 12-11 Minnesota. I really hate that fricking ranking system, but alas, I continue to look at it.

So a team goes on a 22 3-pt rampage and Auburn still wins and we drop?

We could have put 7 out there and still not stopped some of those shots. They were on fire.

Ferg:

quote:

Auburn HC Bruce Pearl on SF Isaac Okoro: "He's got a hamstring pull. He'll be evaluated tomorrow. I don't think it's anything structural. If you've ever seen Isaac's legs, I can't imagine the size of that hamstring... It should take a lot to injure him or take him out."

Unrelated, but I just love that Alabama had a player post a triple double for the first time in 23 years and it was in a loss to AU

Harper literally took future 1st rounder Tyler Hero off the dribble multiple times in Elite Eight OT to carry us to a final four.

Stop looking at kenpom. It’s for efficiency and estimating games. Not ranking.

Bruce himself said we aren’t efficient. We just put work the other team.

I’ll donate my hamstring if he needs it.

Crowd was great tonight. Not sure if it was mentioned on the broadcast but Cooper was in the house.

Is it just me, or does it feel like opposing teams light it up from the outside in auburn arena?... idk if it’s the smaller size makes shooters more comfortable or what.... or maybe it’s just in my head.

In SEC play, we are in the bottom 5 in

- Off eFG%
- FT%
- Def eFG%
- Def Stl%
- Def unforced TO%
- % of our shots blocked

Not sure why AU fans are confused when efficiency metrics shite on us

I don’t think anyone’s confused about it. It’s the fact that these Big 10 teams specifically feast in Kenpom and SEC gains zero ground even with wins. I get the OOC performance of the SEC was bad. Let’s take Wisconsin for example. They finished dead arse last in a non conference tourney that we won and they’re in front of us with 10 losses.

Yep, just not a fan. Guess it has its place, but overall, I think it's shite.

Thats what happens when you feast And dominate OOC like the Big10 did.
quote:

They also have 5 KenPom top 25 wins when AU has 0

Also, since that tournament Wisconsin appears to perform at or outperform the KenPom expectations for a team ranked 20-40

Compare that to AU who has underperformed expectations of a team ranked 20-40

they’re in front of us with 10 losses.

KenPom doesn't pay attention to actual W/L

A 1 pt win is not meaningfully ifferent than a 1 pt loss

And there's the crux of it.

KenPom is not "results" oriented (by results I mean wins and losses). It's not a poll and shouldn't be treated like one.

It is shite for resume grading. It is good for general team quality

If a team is in the top 25 they either won a lot or have a track record of playing really good teams really tough
