20-25 carries?

Add zone read by Nix and jets for about 7.

20-25 carries split between DJ and Shivers.

MAR? When do we get to see him?

DJ looks banged up so playing MAR seems prudent.

I'd like to see 25 to 30 for Tank, about 15 for DJ and 0 carries for the Midget

Looks like DJ only got one carry Saturday. Was he in the game much other than that?

You’d rather slow arse Milik Miller 2.0 get 15 carries?

Shivers looked good on Saturday. I agree he's not an every down back but when Tank needed a blow he did a good job. I don't see a reason to shite on the guy.

He is averaging 5.6 ypc and has the longest run this year of any RB. Tanks averaging 5.8 and Shivers 5.2... or are you back to making up that he was caught last year by a guy 15 yards behind him?

Yeah he looked phenomenal getting pushed down with a 2 hand touch on the 1st carry of the game.

Tank 15-20 carries a game. Damn folks saying 25-30 his body wouldn’t hold up 2 years. Split on the other carries I don’t care but Bo should be running it on draws and keeps about 10 times a game himself.

I agree. I have been hard on him or the fact that he was our starter and how bad that is but he ran the ball well Saturday. He had a few busts but so did tank. Most of the busted runs were on the Offensive line.

Shivers can contribute and he should. Id like to see him keep getting the ball. He is light years better than DJ at this point in my opinion.

I know some of your are still talking about MAR but lets face it. There is a reason he is not playing. I dont know what that is but there is a reason. Same thing that happened with Asa and others. If the coaches felt that he could contribute, he would be playing. Dont fool yourself.

Honestly 20-25 carries for Tank is the max right now. We dont need him gassed or injured. He is doing a unreal job and it goes to show what happens when we finally get a blue chip back instead of the average backs we have been getting.

He is a damn beast.

We really need to find some weapons besides Tank.

Board will freak out if

Bo throws over 35 passes
or
Tank over 25 carries

Midget or someone is gonna have to get carries to make everyone happy

With these stats, the better question is WHY are we throwing it more than 25 times a game?

There's nothing wrong with 25-30 throws a game, with 25-30 carries. That usually mean we are balanced and moving the ball by air or ground.

It's when we get into over 35 throws that Bo is going to get into trouble with his throwing. It means we are one sided, and for sure Bo is going to be more inaccurate, and make some mistakes...

That little quick swing pass to Schwartz is nothing more than a glorified hand off.

I agree with this but we average 72 plays per game this season and have averaged 79 plays per game the past 3. So by accounting for 25-30 rush and 25-30 pass we are missing about 20-30 plays per game.

In order to have real balance in terms of numbers it means Bo might need to throw it close to 35 times a game. That is 45% of 79 plays. Granted 5-10 of those on average are screen passes which is nothing more than a wide run with one of our WR’s. However, outside of Pegues we have not blocked great on those plays and Nix cannot seem to consistently throw a good ball which is key to those plays working.

Looking at the breakdown of RB touches against Ole Miss though: Tank 24, Shivers 11, Bo 10. That might be perfect going forward. Sprinkle the other 30-35 plays passing.

Bo is averaging 34.6 attempts a game so this explains why the board is freaking out

Solid point on the screens. Those are basically running plays for us.

Opponent, Pass/Rush, Yards per play
UK 27/30 5.7
UGA 40/22 3.5
ARK 29/41 6.4
USC 47/36 5.8
OM 30/47 6.0

AVG 35/35 5.5

I think we get a little wrapped up in the game to game splits. Reality is that the circumstances of the game often determine the splits. Overall, that’s pretty balanced.

More encouraging, last three games Auburn averages 463 ypg / 6.1 ypp. That’s around top 25 offense averages for the young season. Those numbers, alone, don’t really get us killed.

More interesting, is that the split for the last 3 games goes from 35/35 to 35/41. Not passing, on average, any less, but we’re running 6-7 more plays a game

We’ll see what happens the rest of the season with this

Which is why his average is that high: fewer carries and a long run. He's slow and doesn't have good vision. It is what it is.
