Why add WV, VT, and NC state? Television markets into West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina.
I would take North Carolina Maryland and Virginia or Virginia Tech either one…. But television eyeballs are the market. It’s why we lead in everything the passion around the game in the south. And can expand the footprint

In reality I don’t give a crap what the conferences do. I don’t care what the playoffs do. I just want a plain set of rules that whoever competes has the opportunity to win regardless of what some writer might think. Win on the field.

Otherwise why even call it SEC.

I think it’s awesome. Would love to have Oklahoma and Texas. Awesome games and travel destinations.
Y’all really want to keep Mizzou and College station, and won’t add Texas and Oklahoma ?
It seems the pod system would set us back to a traditional SEC schedule where we play bama, Florida, UGA, tennesse regularly again.

Just read an article this morning saying that they have been working on this for six months and the move is almost done - and the funniest part is the SEC leadership somehow kept it secret and never informed A&M. Lololol

OK and TX just left the conference.
Please consider joining my movement. #AuburntotheACC. I have no desire to be buried by our own conference. I want to compete for conference titles and national titles, not be relegated to a mid-pack team.

I honestly don’t see how this benefits Auburn. Only other top tier teams that would not be in the conference would be Clemson, OSU, ND, and Oregon. We would beat up each other during conf play and let these 4 continue to have easier schedule and make playoffs each yr.

Thank you! There isn't one single benefit to this for us and will actually only hurt us. Think recruiting is slow now? Wait until we are fighting with 2 more schools for the same players. Want to play the conference title and have a shot at the playoffs? Good luck getting past Bama, UGA, Fla, LSU, AM, TX, OK.. That doesn't even take into account Lane at Ole Miss and the occasional good team from someone else.
If the SEC doesn't value us, then we should tell the ACC to throw the bag at us and show us they value us as one of their flagship brands. We would also pick up Duke and UNC in basketball. Its a no lose situation.

Dude. The ACC schools minus FSU/Maimi/Clemson don't really care about sports. Think UAB type support. I don't want to spend my Saturdays in Chapel Hill playing in front of 20K people. Basketball/Baseball are niche sports. I am a big fan of both, but CFB is the driver here.

Clemson is established at this point. UNC is on the rise in a hurry under Mack Brown.. Miami and FSU are in the middle of of a turnaround that won't take much longer to finish. I agree with you in general though, as of today thats true. If the ACC added Auburn, Notre Dame and maybe 1 or two other schools that changes though.
A conference of Clemson, Auburn, Notre Dame, Miami, FSU and UNC is a really good conference that would probably get 2 playoff sports.
I understand people are reluctant to the idea right now, but I think if we go a few years in a row finishing .500 in the SEC while having a good team people will change their minds quick. We go the next decade as a bottom half SEC team and people will be begging to move.
I still haven't seen anyone list a single competitive benefit Auburn gets from this?

Big12 had a league wide conference call and Texas and OU were no shows. That's definitely telling.
I also don't see how it benefits OK and TX. They are the big dog in the Big12.
Are they going to get more revenue from tv and such from joining the SEC? Maybe the next tv contract will double bc of TX and OK in it?
Texas has their own network don't they? How will that conflict with the SECN?
I'm not sure if it hurts AU, unless we get put into a division that includes Alabama, LSU, TaM and OK and Tex. That would be disastrous for us.

Its already being reported that they are leaving. Rumors it could be as early as next week.
They benefit from exposure of their brand as a whole, they now also have the recruiting pitch of "come play in the SEC", and more money from TV contracts, plus more primetime games.
Not sure how the network thing would work honestly. TX gets a lot of money for that, but I can't see the SEC allowing 1 team to have its own network and additional revenue stream that other teams won't have. Does the SEC bend over the Texas and allow them to keep their network? That would set a bad precedent and show that Texas is favored over the traditional SEC teams.

If they move Auburn and Alabama to the East then 5 of the big six are in the East: Auburn, Bama, UGA, Florida, and Tennessee.
And the West only really has one traditional SEC power in LSU.
I would like to see Auburn and Mississippi State or Ole Miss move to the East.

To me Tenn is no longer part of the big 6. They haven't been relevant for years IMO.
Now I would just move Auburn to the East. So that would put 8 in each conference.
Auburn would play 7 teams in the East, 1 permanent from the West(Alabama as a rival), and rotate the other 7 for 9 sec games.
Now they could go to 10 SEC games, since they now have an idea how that looks since we did it in a Covid year.
Although Dabo, if we go to a 12 game playoff, and add more playoffs games, wants us to reduce the number of games we play by 1(one of the OOC games), and maybe play it in the spring as a spring game...mmmm, not sure about that.

Bring them. I honestly dont care. I learned last year that Auburn is a top 10 program. Why would we care if they bring in Texas an OU.
Bring em in. Will be fun

That's exactly how we should be.
We have dabbled in the top 10, so we know we can do it.
With our ability of the last 40 years to show we can recruit around top 10 talent, then we should strive to be that top 10 team...

quote:I'm generally against it for many reasons. However if it happens it will be nice to see UT and OU lose 5 games a year consistiently. More specificially, I have two close UT friends that you'd think UT had won multiple championships over the past decade. Its sometimes hard to be in the same room with these turds. Respect to my UA friends, you've won the hardware.
Sorry if another thread but what are your thoughts on the rumor of TX & OU joining the SEC? Not sure if I am a fan or not. Would be tougher to get to the playoffs but again would raise money for our team. Many details to work out if true but also there will be a few teams that will block. Again it might be TX & OU flexing to get something that they want within that league.
