I see Maalik Murphy said he will not be playing in the Gator Bowl since he is in the portal.

Im sure there will be quite a few others that will have to announce while they are still a contributor to their current team.

Odd odd times in college, uh semi pro ball these days.

My sauces say the rumors were about the wrong South Carolina QB.

Some guy named Ashford. Used to play at Oregon. Pretty good stats according to some

I listened to J Ferg’s podcast today with Clemente on there and they gave a really good breakdown on the portal. No doubt that Auburn is ready to spend seriously in the portal this year and move quickly. Top targets so far are the RB from ULM, Singleton from GT, and a QB. They said that currently the #1 option has got to be Arnold and that Daniel’s is clearly just going to be a depth guy.

Sounds like the Washington State QB is going to be the most sought after QB if he enters the portal. But Wazzu is ready to pay big to keep him, and Oklahoma is probably the favorite if he does decide to leave.

I think Auburn wants to move relatively quickly at QB if possible as it will probably be a determining factor for a guy like Singleton Jr. There could still be other guys that jump in, but I think Salter and Murphy are more second options behind Arnold.

Ultimately, I think Arnold gets a pass this year just due to the offensive line issues Oklahoma had and they were missing nearly all of their WR’s this year. Plenty of talent and potential there, and really didn’t have bad year considering the lack of talent around him. Unfortunately, their aren’t any can’t miss QB’s like Cam Ward last year, in the portal currently.

What have you seen from Jackson Arnold to make you say this? He seems to be everyone's favorite and I'm kinda perplexed about it. Because he ran all over Bama? I think this guy has good potential but we need more than that. We need the perfect bridge with experience. Arnold is far from the developed signal caller we need right now in my opinion.

Educate me..

Why would our #1 guy be someone who got benched mid season for a dual threat QB.

Hugh’s RpO system depends on a DT QB

He had a 12/2 TD/INT ratio. He couldn't move the offense and was pressing to make plays. He was benched because the other QB was mobile and countered the OL's blocking issues.

Arnold is a DT QB. He had 450 yards and 3 TD’s on the ground.

He ran for about 130 against Alabama.

Jackson Arnold IS a dual-threat QB.

He got benched because their offense imploded, and when that happens the first move is to go to the backup QB as a scapegoat move. The literal same thing happened here with Thorne being "benched" for Brown. OU's backup was worse than Arnold, and Arnold was inserted back into the starting lineup to end the season.

All of this is accurate. I’m not saying Arnold is guaranteed to solve our issues. But it sounds like Arnold is may be Hugh’s favorite at the moment. And it’s not crazy, as currently there is no can’t miss QB in the portal. Arnold at least was a 5 star, with clear talent and potential, and has played against SEC competition. With Arnold, or any QB we go after, you’re going to be banking on our WR talent being legit next year, Freeze being able to scheme them open, and plugging some holes on the OL through the portal. If all that happens, I don’t think it’s crazy to think Arnold could live up to his high school hype. With guys like Murphy, Mensah, and others your taking risk on all the forementioned plus a huge jump in competition.

It needs it's own thread alone. No one is listing just OLine men.

I would be excited about Arnold. But will believe it when I see it.

Would be nice to beat out MSUfor a transfer QB in December. Last time that happened…

It would be embarrassing to lose him to them too. With their class they got money to bid.

Agreed. If Mateer enters the portal you have to go after him and make him say no. But if that’s not an option Arnold is as good an option as available right now. It’s going to be just as important to plug several other holes around the QB to make the necessary jump next year, and a lot of those probably hinge on getting a QB. So you may need to take a stab at the best available option now and then try to use that to build momentum on other guys your after.

Several OL have been posted about

Northwestern OL Josh Thompson seems like the mostly likely guy right now. He visits Wednesday

Arizona OL Wendell Moe is another, visiting Friday.

North Carolina OT Howard Sampson and Virginia Tech OT Xavier Chaplin are others to watch
