His last line could be telling why the qb room seemed to struggle. It didn't look like anyone really improved throughout the season. Thorne did better but it was because the people around him could actually catch unlike last season.

The portal giveth and the portal taketh away. Don’t get attached to players. Support them if they wear the orange and blue.

Sounds like something Brother Freezus would say. I just wonder was it his Handlers/Uncle help him to make that Busine$$ decision or all alone? Wish him the best since he wore orange and blue. Smh

You don’t say.

As to the stuff around wanting to be closer to home, I think a lot of that was just speculation. Doesn’t matter at this point, but I don’t think that was “the” reason he entered.

Eh, this is a universal problem in college football and largely driven by the fact QB’s aren’t willing to sit. There is a QB play pandemic in college football. You get a guy that just has it or you buy one that proved it elsewhere. Rarely are you seeing a guy that developed in a program, wait his turn, and then shine. Just isn’t happening in today’s game.

It’s not just QB. It’s any player that thinks they are better than the person in front of them.

Even at the fan level you see it. People clamoring for Perry Thompson to get more snaps and balls when KLS was absolutely balling out.

Freeze coached teams seem to play to the level of the opponent. Causes too many close games, many end up losses

Line of scrimmage game. Doesn’t matter how many 5 star wide receivers you have. Everyone says QB QB QB. Yes a solid QB can make a difference between equal teams.

But games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. The better lines are more physical and play with a different intensity.

For sure, but QB is definitely the worst. Partially because of how focal the position is and critical its play is in today’s game.

With money what it is, players won’t realize or care, but how many of these transfers (in their first 2 years) really pan out? Ewers maybe? I know there are more, but I think most of these kids that do these early transfers ultimately end up worse off. JMO.

Well the QB has to make the right reads and make the throws. There are lots of plays the QB makes but missed something bigger that only the coaches see. Obviously the bad throws people see but it's the whole play that we don't always know and if the QB did what he should. Make those can make a huge difference in a game. Yes the line on offense has to hold up but the QB has to make the right play when given the chance and the best decision if not.

As for White, he obviously either wanted more money or thought he had a better chance to play at Baylor. We haven't exactly proven we can make a QB better under Freeze and if he had hopes of developing he may have left for that. Either way he is gone and we have what we have. All we can do is hope we have better OLine play and QB play. The play calling we will see.

I would be fine digging back into Tommy Trotts rock hands. But I think we all knew that so its not really a debate.

It is a old saying but it is still true. They are won up front. But you cant just get 5 big guys and win games. I still contend that in todays game, the QB is by far the most important position on the team. I think I coined that phrase.

It works together. No line is going to keep bulling guys down if the dumbass behind them is turning the ball over every other play or holding on to the ball for 15 seconds waiting on someone to get wide open. Though I blame the coach for most of that, the offense has to give those guys some reason to put out the effort. And that hinges on the QB in preacher Hughs offense.

And how many teams out there have a great offensive line? Very few. Good line play these days is rare. Look at UGA. They have been recruiting at the top for 10 years now. 5*'s falling out of the sky and their offensive line play right now is total shite. They cant run the damn ball to save their lives. Thus, the coach needs to alter his offense to accommodate the line and QB he has to play with

Freeze is getting paid to make it work. He just can not sit back and say, in 3 more years we will do better. Thats not how it works in this new world of college football.

Them not knowing might be the answer your looking for. Not that anyone truly knows how to manage a roster these. If no one was getting that warm fuzzy feeling it might have not set well with WW's crew. And we don't know what was said, the dollars, or how he'd been developed so far.

Got to constantly re-recruit because it'll take big dollars to stack quality QB's three deep.

Lanier I agree with your point. An adequate line can make a team successful and a shatty line can make a superstar look like, well, shat.

BYU vs Colorado was a good example. BYU line set up some well designed run plays by executing blocks, and they did a good job of protecting.

Contrast that with no one knowing what Sanders is like judging him on that game because he was running for his life the entire game.

I think with our two additions we have what 18 linemen now, certainly enough to have some excellent fleshing out in the spring.

And I think Freeze and Arnold had a very good kumbayah, both their arses are on the line this season. Boosters have spent a fortune to get Freeze to this point, and Arnold can burnish his performance or continue his downward trajectory, it is truly time to fish or cut bait.

I, for one, think Arnold will shine this fall.

I think he could do well. Getting a established running game can take some pressure off him and balance things out. I am still not a fan of the offense Hugh runs for Auburn but he is going to get a chance this fall to show it off.
Personally I will always opt for a heavy run game as I still believe that type of offense can control a game. But we have all the tools at the right time for this pass heavy offense to work. Just a matter of time

I was surprised how many times Sanders turned his back on the direction of play.

I would think keeping your eyes downfield is paramount when forced to scramble.

He gave up extra sack yardage when he reversed field.

I’m not an expert on QB play, but it seems like the great ones evade while keeping eyes downfield.

I still think we need another high level IOL to make me feel confident about our ability to run the football, and properly protect to QB for the first time since like 2017 Stidham?

maker,

I chuckled about the third time he did that "crazy ivan" (hunt for red october), they had it figured out and one lineman didnt run to him, he ran to his right....knowing he was going to turn around and run into him, and he did, right into the lineman who almost took his head off.

And you guys are right, normally on the quick sideline interview before half the coach hits about three bullet points on what they need to do.....Prime looked as bewildered as his team in that interview.

I like the offense where receivers are the king. Got to have a top QB that can scramble and make wise decisions, know when to check down and stay ahead of the chains.

Thorne seemed to struggle with the speed ( quick decisions etc) hopefully Arnold will kill it
