I agree but it’s just interesting that you simped hard for Malzahn but chose to bash Freeze as you do.
Either way Gus is long gone and Hugh is on the clock. If we miss a bowl AGAIN next season he will be possibly looking for another job.

Did you forget his plays already? Run, run, pass punt? Our fans could call what was about to happen.
Or the 2nd half non adjustments?
Gus blew a lot of meaningful games. 2017 SEC Championship was one of those..
BS. He didnt lose that 2017 game. But he is responsible for it. Just like Hugh is responsible for NMSU and 4th and 31. It is their job to win. I will be glad to compare wins by Malzahn and Hugh in any way you wild like if you want to
Shall we start with their first two years as head coach at Auburn?
And we can talk about play calling and second half adjustments as well. What ever you would like to do.

Gus was the most infuriating coach we've ever had

My personal favorite were the specific plays for specific players. Oh, RB #5 is in the game? Swing pass upcoming. Oh, this WR is in the game? Deep pass coming up.
He was as predictable as the sun rising in the East. I know that his philosophy was- if all 11 of my guys do their job, then the play will be successful even if the defense knows what is coming.

And you guys are the ones who constantly bring up Gus. Not me. I bash Hugh because I think he is a total slime ball human being and a terrible game day coach. We saw his up and down coaching in his past and hired him anyway because we were desperate. As Auburn does
I agreed it was time for Malzahn to go and I dont bring him up. He is just a conversation piece for you guys almost every day on this board and especially for me when my views do not match what you guys are HOPING that will happen with Hugh at the controls

Keep watching the CFP and it will become clear that it does in a vast majority of games.
The only thing I have seen that is obvious..........home field is a HUGE advantage. Home field no longer exists in the playoffs from here out.

So who is the next name to follow or are we out of it for any other top ones?
Waiting to see what Josh Thompson (OL - Northwestern) does. Not sure when he will decide but he appears to be only one left that has yet to make a decision that we are in it for.

We also need some Dline help and another linebacker right?

another truth for you: Gustav won more meaningful games in his first season as our HC than Freezus has in his entire career

Yeah, with a roster full of talent and Nick Marshall

I would say so, just no names to track right now that I’m aware of. I keep seeing a little smoke (hopium) on TJ Parker, but I’ll believe that one when I see it.

Yeah, with a roster full of talent

These quotes are both by you..
Gus caught lightning in a bottle with Cam and then as a coach Prayer @ JH and Kick6. Made him very rich

He signed with UGA to play DB. But Nick Marshall also played QB in high school. He threw for 5000+ yards and 72 TDs in two seasons.
I don’t know if the box scores for Nick Marshall’s JUCO games are anywhere online anymore but he also had like 1K rushing and 20 TDs
Anyway, he was always interception prone but he had so many interceptions in JUCO because he was the whole offense. Most games their defense gave up 50-70 points so he was just chunking it toward the end of games to see what happens, it wasn’t entirely indicative of his skill IMO

i knew all this, i was just responding to the poster who implied that Marshall was some sure thing as QB in 2013 based on his history
i contend that, despite how Gustav lost his edge/got complacent later in his AU career, 2013 would never have happened under another HC
which i believe has been Lanier’s point

This is is HUGE part of the story people miss. I remember his JUCO coach being interviewed and saying that Nick was essentially coached to throw as much as possible because of the defense, but folks only throw around Stats without the circumstances connected to them. Folks will spend the next 9+ months say Jackson Arnold got benched or say he's another failed QB without acknowledging that the reasons matter. Oklahoma gave up 57 sacks last year so they played the guy who was more mobile. It shouldn't be ignored that he got benched, but just remember the circumstances and the WHY is all I'm asking. No OLine, No receivers, and a shite game plan but yeah it's all on Arnold.

2014 BCS NC Game.
This is dumb. Gus called a great game. We scored 31 on a great defense and missed an easy FG and wide open TD on the first possession of the game.
Gus also didn't cramp trying to cover a kickoff or have two miss a tackle on a 6 yard stop that turned into a 60 yard play.

Gus did take his foot off the gas with his play calling. Gus missed a clearly obvious fake punt that everyone in the stands knew was coming.
