I do agree with this. Holding the ball for 5 seconds doesn't help people block for you. However, Chaplin did not grade well as a run blocker (PFF) at home or the road. I just can't see this staff deciding to take a risk on a guy who was an SEC bust by paying another couple of million to him. Again, I get that the coaching didn't help him. Let's just hope we evaluated well this portal window, and are prepared to make silent count adjustments like the rest of college football.

In 2025 Chaplin earned an overall PFF grade of 56.6, with a 71.1 in pass blocking but a 56.4 in run blocking. He was also penalized 12 times in 2025. The overall PFF grade of 56.6 ranks him 1,312th in the nation among OTs and the 12 penalties were tied for the sixth-highest in the nation.

From Tomahawk Nation, they are hopeful that Herb Hand will get him playing well.

IIRC he had multiple false starts and/or holds in both of these games at crucial moments

Jackson Arnold made the OL look worse than they were.

Or was it that the OL made him look like Arnold Jackson?

Sometimes Arnold played bad and made the OL look like shite
Sometimes the OL played bad and made Arnold look like shite
Sometimes they both played bad and looked like shite together
Rarely did they both play well at the same time

This is from Missouri. 91.3 pass block was very good. Run block not so much. I can grab images of other games if you want.

Which shows they had no idea how to evaluate

Yeah, as an Auburn fan I've seen with my eyes that a guy had a hard day, but the coaching staff would say that a player graded out well. Have you not seen the same yourself? Also if I'm not mistaken just because a guy didn't miss a blocking assignment doesn't mean that he prevented the QB from being hurried or rushed. I don't swear by PFF nor do I claim to be a offensive or defensive analyst, also these things aren't the easiest things to grade according to the Auburn live guys. Believe what you will though sir. I was essentially saying we won't miss his performance from LAST season but that doesn't mean by our luck he won't play well THIS year.
