Yuge. Amaris was a beast when healthy this season.

I agree if we are talking about a legit lockdown guy but I wouldn’t consider him a lockdown guy. I could be off and holding this year against him too much (because he was elite his freshman year). Someone from the corner at on3 posted some stats on him from PFF.
“when targeted opposing qbs had a 105.9 nfl passer rating which ranked
47th out of 61 sec corners
tied for 3rd most in sec in tds given up with 4 tds
coverage grade was
27th out of 61“

LOOOL if those are his grades then LOOL.
Gotta pay up to get the 30th best CB in the SEC! Wonder what the #1 CB is gonna rake in? $10 million?

Jay Crawford is a talent, but If we feel like we can get better then let's explore that. Let's treat it like a business just like they have

Jay is really good regardless of what his stats are. He’s not a great tackler but normally get locked in against the other teams best WR. He’s not great in zone but very good in man. DJ likes to mix a lot of zone in especially when bringing pressure so longer lengthy CBs normally do better in those situations.
But at the end of the day it’s a business and you either trust the process of the new coach or not. And heck we don’t know we may be close to his highest offer he may just want to go some place else. I’ll evaluate the roster after the portal closes.

I’m going to disagree with you there. It’s way easier to replace a linebacker than it is a lockdown corner. And I’m saying that as someone that loves Atkins and the way he plays.
Except that Atkins is one of the ~5-10 best LB's in the entire country, and Durkin actually uses him more like an Edge player, so his value FAR exceeds what a typical LB normally provides. Pass rushers are even more valuable than Cornerbacks.
And Crawford as a CB is nowhere near as impactful as Atkins at LB for Durkin's defense. Not even close.
Xavier Atkins was 5th in the entire country with 17 tackles for loss, and 16th in Sacks with 9. Again, this is an ELITE disruptor on defense, whereas Crawford is just a "good" CB.

Yeah for a guy playing "MLB", Atkins sack numbers are insane. Actual DE and edge rushing OLB would kill to have 9 or 10 sacks in a college regular season.

He plays the Will not the Mike. Not an edge guy but was a spy/blitzed a lot of the time contributing to his sacks.

Will is still a Middle Linebacker...
Just the weak side middle linebacker in a 3-4.

Indiana is so far the exception, not the rule.

And Indiana’s schedule is not even close to Auburn’s.

Maybe, just maybe, we will actually throw to him. This new offense should make him money now and in the league.
