Jake Thornton better buckle down. He gets to recruit players from two pools and is missing on them all. HS and portal.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution had an article today in which it reported that according to Dawg Nation QB Carson Beck wants $4,000,000.00 to play for Georgia next year. Just DAMN!

Pritchett only went to the portal so Bama could outbid us to get him back from what I'm hearing
In that case we should absolutely bid on him as well… we should be driving up the price on everyone Bama/Georgia wants.

We don’t need the processed Bama players anymore. Y’all need to get some self respect
I don’t think he’s processed tbh and we need talented young tackles badly. If the staff thinks the kid can ball, and the price is right, it’s crazy not to take him. I can’t blame someone for avoiding the Harsin shitshow.

NIL is great. It beats only letting a few teams pay players and get away with it. It creates parity and soon the money will be harder to find. It only takes a few big money misses for the market to change over night. Think RB in NFL draft, they used to go #1

It's going to make cfb look like the NFL when it's done. Except players won't stay long. Eventually the NIL will be contracts that try to force players that get money to stay and play with buyouts.

They have alot of rules between it and the Portal to make it work well.

I hope they negotiate player contracts better than they do coaches contracts

Hugh Freeze says he doesn't think he and his staff have done a very good job in the transfer portal. Says in hindsight he should have gotten transfers on campus immediately instead of scheduling visits for the second week, since lots of those targets never made it to campus.

quote:

Auburn's Hugh Freeze said Saturday he's juggling the transfer portal with this overriding fact: "I'm really committed to signing the best high school class we can." Freeze said "there are some teams right now that 'we're going all portal.' I'm going to try the high school formula with needs in the portal." Freeze said dealing with the portal can be tough: "We’ve had many visits set and they don’t even get to campus" because they commit to another school. "It’s been challenging to figure out."

they need to stop this shite. If your name goes in, there's no going back. Otherwise schools like bama will just put in a player to see what the going bid is from rival schools and adjust their offers accordingly for other targets.

Just a fishing expedition to find out our best offer. frick bama

It’s not hard to recruit the portal. Most of these kids just want playing time and NIL.

“I believe in Payton,” Freeze said during a Saturday press conference ahead of Auburn’s first bowl practice. “I believe in Holden (Geriner). I believe in Hank (Brown) and I believe the kid (2024 QB commit Walker White) we’ve got coming. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. That’s my belief.”

Freeze says he’s sticking with Thorne as QB1.
