I'd come out against Samford and have Thorne throw the ball ~35 times.

I agree with this too. No point running Gus’ ‘murder ball against an overmatched opponent’ running for 400 yards. Thorne to me seems to have a slow processor in the head with every throw seemingly a hesitant double clutch. SEC defenses will eat him alive if he does not take a step forward in the next game. The worst part is it will significantly hurt our running game as the safeties will simply play in the box all the time.

PS: I promise I won’t complain if he throws for 300 yards and 3 TD next game and say, “It was just Samford”. I just want to see a AU QB competently throw the ball.

I felt like this staff put Robby in the game to punish and show Thorne he better shape up or else. Freeze is in the process of trying to understand how to coach this QB in real time. Personally I think Thorne should play the full first three quarters against samford no matter the outcome. He needs to be allowed to screw up and work RedZone offense without the threat of being replaced for a Robby running TD. I'm looking forward to Walker White being able to HOPEFULLY run and pass at a high level so this won't be necessary.
Agreed. I'd spend the next week working on the passing game 65/35 or 70/30 in practice. THEN - PT plays the whole first half at least, and we throw something like 70% of the time vs. Samford. We have 2 weeks to get the QB and WR in sync.

I'm pretty confident our defense can handle Samford in base and our running game could simply drive the ball all afternoon. Passing offense is the blatant deficiency.

He grew up pulling for FSU and they appear to be a playoff contender. There’s zero reason for him to choose Auburn.

I kind of agree but a few years ago I read a coach address this as recruiting is one place where it's still important to be #2. In this case Norvell isn't getting fired and probably isn't leaving but who knows if somebody will pull a Mel Tucker accusation or something along those lines. Maybe there is a position coach KJ really hit off with that gets hired away etc... Classes fall apart all the time and someone has to be there to pick up the pieces.

Does KJ have a salty dad with a vendetta against FSU?

I would like to see Holden get in there after the half or after the first series after the half. He needs to be ready in case PT can’t get out of his head or gets injured. He should be qb 2 with packages to Robbie.

Good point. Except Auburn isn’t a 1st round pick producing Dynasty.

There is something there that the coaches feel he is worthy of their time and resources.

He isn’t coming here barring the FSU program getting the death penalty. We’re wasting our time. End of story.

I'm torn about this guy. He clearly was affected by the final visit to Auburn and I believe that money talks in a way it never has. For example, Cam Coleman's heart was probably leaning AU but his bank account said Texas A&M. Most would have said just give up on Reddick, Thompson, and Joe Phillips but somehow we came through. I'd say the Georgia visit should be our last strong pitch.

It's not like there are other really highly ranked guys we are prioritizing him over. The others are backup plans who will be happy to get an AU offer whenever it may come.

We can take a page from Bruce and the staff on recruiting.
Walker Kessler is why you never stop recruiting a player.

I feel like Coleman is going to come home sooner or later.

Coleman and the Phenix City kids just seem like they don't like Auburn for whatever reason. If Coleman leaves Aggy he probably finds another oos school with good NIL.

Wish we would give him the bag, he and Perry could end our passing woes.

Serious question here, when do the '24 commits start getting the NIL money? At commitment or upon signing? Are there rules in place, or does each school do it when they want?

Different rules in different states. Some you can still be in HS and get NIL money. Others you have to sign some binding papers and others you have be enrolled.

So some kids that haven't officially signed yet could be unflippable because they've been paid or signed a binding agreement to sign?
