It's a possibility. This is why NIL is a convoluted mess. no one chose to put in place any guidelines or rules involving NIL before it came into effect.

Some kid is going to "violate" their NIL when he's a bust, get released from it, and lawsuits will follow. Others will unknowingly violate theirs and get it taken back, and sue. This is going to become a shite show. These kids pushed to get paid, then will complain when they want to transfer but can't too I'm sure

Depends. Its messy and I'm sure there is tons I don't know, but just because you sign an NIL deal doesn't mean you have to go that school. Maybe in some states though, I'm not sure.

Its a transfer so it might be different, but Dee Davis still had a deal with OTV after he left. He still had to make social media post and they still had to pay him because the contract was for multiple years.

The Dee Davis scenario is a mess that will come to a head at some point. Did the Texas QB have to repay any of the $1.2 million Ohio State gave him?

NILs will try and sue other NILs over transfers. This is bound to implode and be worse than it was before it started

That seems pretty insane... who would structure a deal that doesn't end when someone transfers? I'd assume they'd even try to throw in clawbacks but good luck collecting unless the guy makes it to the NFL/NBA...

A little bit OT here:

Does anyone think that having a HS football season thread is a good idea?

Was coming to post this lol. He said Waldrep would be his next prediction if he went to a different HS lol, but likes what he's hearing.

Off topic some here, but how bad do Kiffin and Ole Miss look right now? I agree that lawsuit seems like a load of shite, and the kid that filled it is a butthurt pussy that lost his job. But the media and general public loves butthurt pussies these days. Especially when a butthurt pussy brings up mental health issues, racial discrimination, and gender discrimination. Anyone else glad we aren't caught up in that mess? Could be used against him in recruiting. The recording that kid took will sound damning to the right people. Thankfully for Kiffin he has never been accused of having bad judgement. And thankfully for Ole Miss they've always been known for being one of the most tolerant and progressive schools in the country.

Sounds like Hoover LB Bradley Shaw is either Clemson or Arkansas. Auburn got their top 3 targets, but I really wish they’d grab him too.

Sort of off topic but I suppose it could impact OM's recruiting.

quote:

racial discrimination
LMAO - going to be tough to prove that one when the football team is likely majority black. I can't fathom HS players would let this be a factor.

quote:

On Feb. 27, 2023, Rollins met with Kiffin, who informed Rollins he was moving from defensive tackle to the scout team's offensive line because he wouldn't transfer. According to the lawsuit, Rollins asked Kiffin if this was "a choice or a command." Rollins alleged that Kiffin told him "if he didn't like it then he should quit." At that point, Rollins told Kiffin he was going to take "a mental break," according to the lawsuit. Rollins went to his car and immediately called strength and conditioning coach Nick Savage and reiterated his need for a mental break.

Ah - there it is. The kid was getting put back on scout team as an upperclassmen and wanted to claim mental health issues to stay on scholarship while not working out with the team or practicing. Not sure if it exists, but the NCAA should put in place a "medical waiver" or something for situations like this. If the kid is claiming mental health issues, he can be booted from the team but not lose his scholarship and a scholarship is freed up for the school.

Figured he was gone when we sent out the offer for the Miss St commit.

Does anybody know why? This sounds puzzling considering our lack of depth. And if UF continues to plummet on the field, some are expecting 1 or 2 of their commits to start looking our way?

This player has been educated on how to play the system. That much I know.

There are certain stressors that can be invariably used in either situation and this kid knew that.

I think Kiffin is right, the kid is a pussy. Unfortunately there are a lot of pussies out there who will raise hell about it

That’s a good list for an FCS opponent.
