It was a luxury from a team/depth standpoint. From a PR standpoint, he was a must get. Also, from the 'frick our redneck rival' standpoint.
Now Auburn has a rep for losing home recruits to Alabama and that won't go away for a while.

I would not be surprised if RE told both coaching staffs last night he was coming to their school.
Seems like word was coming out of both places that RE was coming to each school.

I think Gus will learn from this and you won't see Auburn being embarrassed like this on NSD anymore. I like him telling a couple of guys to go frick themselves early in the process and I don't expect to see him dancing at any bday parties next year.
At the end of the day it's about opportunity-cost and the time and effort spent on Evens could have landed us two other guys that would have been just as good if not better
