2015 after the UGA game

eta: Kirby Smart was the homerun pick we didnt act on. Take a great defensive mind from our rival and prevent our other rival from getting him. Win win

The game has changed the past 5 to 10 years and it is all about the offense. More specifically QB play and WRs who can't be guarded. The days of a power run game to control clock are a thing of the past I'm afraid.

The rule changes all favor the offense except for the substitution rule over the last 20 years. I'd love to see them bring back 10 yards of hand checking to balance things out a bit more.

Is it possible that he's on your TV? Try turning it down or change the channel and see if you still hear him.

2015 and Champ!!! At least when we fired him the cupboard wouldn't be bare.

Wait what? Muschamp? Are you on BOT? Because you’re sounding like them

You have to view it from the 2015 lens. I'm not suggesting it would have worked but I do believe he'd have a better record at Auburn than he did at USCe. Probably close to most Auburn coaches. 8-4 average. I do believe the talent on our roster would be more balanced when we fired him than today.

We had Kirby. The powers wanted him immediately. He wanted to coach in the national championship. That’s what happened with Kirby. They then chose Gus. That came from the horse's mouth. I’m still pissed.

1. Kirby would have left as soon as UGA came calling.
2. Kirby would not be recruiting at the level he is at UGA at Auburn.
3. Kirby's success is solely due to his recruiting. His management of games and roster talent has been questionable at best.

Would he have been an upgrade? No doubt, but it was a lot more complicated than you make it seem.

I love Muschamp, but he just left SC with the 105th ranked recruiting class.

I wanted him gone at the end of 2015/beginning of 2016 and wanted us to go after Lincoln Riley myself. He and Steele would have been an intriguing combo in retrospect.

Personally, I wanted Kirby in 2013 as well, though not sure how well that would have worked either (we'd at least have a crap ton more talent at least though).

Right now, I’m hoping for Napier or Fickell in that order. I think both would be very good hires.

Auburn doesn’t like to get coaches that will leave for other teams ( referring to Kirby)

Gus has been Auburn football since 2009, sans 2012 - let’s go to the shite offense,

He had a long run. Firing him meant having at least 3 coaches you could get with 1 being an automatic. We have failed ourselves. Give me Freeze or Kiffin but don’t whatever you frickin do- don’t pick Steele. He needs to go as well.

Billy Napier is the son of a HS coach.

Played QB at Furman.

Got his first big job at Clemson under Tommy Bowden as a position coach and recruiting coordinator.

When Dabo took over Clemson, he promoted Napier to OC at 30 years old. Napier remained in that role for two years (Steele was DC).

Dabo fired Napier.

Napier went to the Alabama fired coaches rehab program before it was cool for a season.

Jim McElwain hired Napier at Colorado State as AHC and QB coach, stayed there a year.

Back to Bama for 4 seasons as WR coach, where he recruited and coached a bunch of pros.

In 2017, Todd Graham hired Napier to be OC at Arizona State, stayed there one year (Graham was fired).

2018, ULL hires Napier. He has won his division in all 3 seasons (7-7, 11-3, 9-1), yet to win the Sun Belt title (gotta shot at it Saturday).

Napier is an ace recruiter and spent almost 10 seasons between Bama and Clemson. He has had great success as a QB and WR coach, also as OC. Rebuilt the ULL program and sustained it.

Napier also reportedly passed on the Mississippi State job last offseason. Interviewed for SCar this year and Beamer may have been chosen over him. Point is that he has been selective with his next job, I think Auburn would be a mutually awesome fit.

My next door neighbors are god parents to one of Kirby’s kids. His wife and my neighbor were roommates at uga.

Kirby thought he had the job up until the night before. He went and bought a blue suit and orange tie. Then Gus announced.

That’s from Mary Beth Smarts mouth

I'm the opposite, Fickell then Napier. Both would be great in my opinion.
