I’m not chicken little on this yet. And I do think the search committee is for show. Why wouldn’t Cristobal, Kiffin, anybody use the Auburn buzz to negotiate more money for themselves?

I think all of this could mean that there is another coach, not Cristobal or Steele, that we are continuing to work out specifics with.

There are details and contextual particulars that can create legitimate reasons why the negotiations take longer or the risk/benefit ratio is in favor of waiting a few more days to announce.

I agree with all of this except I don’t think they beat Coastal.

I think if a committee is actually put together and it sounds like it has been that they will actually do some work this time. It's much larger and more dynamic personalities. I don't think they are just cover and rubber stamp.

I wish AD Greene would just man up and do it all himself. Come up with 3 names of people you would consider give them in order to the BOT and see what pops out.

I’m starting to feel this too. For example, I wouldn’t be shocked in the least if Saturday it’s announced that Bill Clark has been hired.

I'd take Bill Clark 1000 times over Steele as head coach

Be some boring arse football tho

If I let myself buy into the misery that is Kevin Steele being named our coach after paying $21m to fire 8-4 Gus, I may really come unhinged...

We are talking about a guy in Steele who has been deemed fit for one HC job in his long career. It was at Baylor from 99-02. He literally only won a single conference game in his tenure and it was freaking Kansas.

I don't doubt that Steele is lobbying for the job and may have favor with some of the slimy money folks. He is obviously good with those people. He got a look at UT once Phil Fulmer got involved in their search. We all know Fat Phil is a dirt bag and good at politics.

I just don't find it possible that the 4 or 5 people (Rane, Harbert, etc) making this decision will land on him at the end. They cannot be that deaf to the pulse of the AU fanbase.

Not for Steele. So throw away 20 plus million for the same staff minus the head coach. Sounds like a high school coaching change.

Not that I agree with it at all, but isn't this what LSU did in a lot of ways. Fired the successful, yet washed up head coach who couldn't get the offense figured out, for the defensive line coach with the awful head coaching history. Who then brought in an entirely new offensive staff and won a national championship...

If Steele and other assistants were mad at Gus for making management decisions about his team, then they all need to go. We don't need a DC or WR coach undermining the program.

Then it crashed and burned the year after, and for the foreseeable future. Also Steele is much worse than O

Agree with that. I am pissed this was an option.

He is not an option. Stop believing the BS you read by people trying to stir the pot.

No fricking way Steele is getting hired. Not unless 50 other coaches turn the job down

Dont be pissed about something that is just keyboard jockeys stirring the pot

LSU struck gold with a QB then paid their dumbass coach 9MM. They are currently on a bowl ban and looking at the barrel of the NCAA. That is what happens when you patch together a staff.

O brought in a swag and an FU attitude. Then he lost his coordinators and tons of players and went to crap. The way he's recruiting they will be fine but they won't beat bama regularly but will be 2 or 3 in the west most years.

There will definitely be a contingent that says “if KS is good enough for Bo Jackson, he’s good enough for me!” The WarBlogle’s of the world and those of a similar Auburn can do no wrong mindset

People will talk themselves into the hire just like they did with Chizik.

Naw not this time. We love Bo but rubber stamping a coaching search isn't the thing for Bo. No one will accept Steele and if he's the guy he will be run out of town in 3 years.

Orgeron is and always has been an ace recruiter as well. I'm not sure the same can be said for Kevin Steele.

Which, if we're honest with ourselves about those miserable south Louisiana a-holes, should be LSU's floor. At some point, admins and boosters might learn to not overreact to isolated success. I feel like I could go win 8 games at LSU.

Bookmark this then, plenty of “creed monsters” and old guys who like “old fashioned hard nosed football” will absolutely buy into the Steele regime. If that wasn’t possible then Steele wouldn’t even be an option for head coach, he certainly isn’t being considered based on actual head coaching merits

Certainly there will be a lot of people that don’t, but just like Chizik people will rally to their tribe’s appointed leader
