How connected is Sanders? I am just having a hard time believing most of what he is selling.
Supposedly he owned the site before it merged with 247.. All of that was way before me though so I even know what site merged with them lol.

Sanders is a former college football coach who has coached in the SEC. He now runs the Auburn 247 site. He is very well connected on coaching stuff. I would definitely trust what he’s putting out as highly as anything else that is said, although things can obviously change as the search moves forward.

My thought was that MC doesn’t believe they currently have the resources in place to build a consistent championship program. Wants better facilities, more coaches, etc. Oregon will easily pony up a raise...it’s the additional resources they’re balking at

Interesting take. Wrong. But interesting.

The dynamics in Eugene are very different from those in Auburn.

The University of Oregon has ABSOLUTELY NO issue investing in facilities or recruiting.

They will not break the bank for a coach. They didnt outbid anyone for Chip Kelly, they damn sure wont for Mario Cristobal. As much as the everyday people in Eugene "tolerate" football season, Chip Kelly was a freaking god. And they let him walk over salary.

Last post for the night. I was curious about Sanders so I looked it up and found this. He actually has a connection to Oregon Ron Sanders.

Not so fast my friend. Alabama and Oregon are VASTLY different with VASTLY different priorities.

2. The optics of paying a football coach $5+ million in the middle of a pandemic are especially bad in Eugene. There is pressure not to do this, though I can’t say w/ any certainty where this is coming from.

Not to get political but you have to wonder if the climate in Oregon right now plays a role in how much they give Cristobal.

Auburn could really benefit from this.

Quinn is better than Steele

I am not so sure I agree with you.

Atl. was as bad a coached NFL team as you will ever see.

It Cant be Quinn. I burned him to the stake over the Falcons. If he became the coach at Auburn, I would need to move to a deserted island for his tenure. My E friends would never let me live it down.

frick the Falcons. frick Quinn

PAM posted another story in the middle of the night. Said the original plan was to fire Gus, promote Steele. Still expects that to happen. If that is true, then we are screwed.

IMHI, that was the plan of a few folks. If you know anyone with any power let them know. Other power brokers, the board and the fans slowed this train. Hopefully we actually stop it.

Using a search committee means Gogue either wanted plausible deniability or he listened to folks against Steele or both.

I refuse to believe this was the plan. The has been no sediment from any of the Auburn community that this would be accepted. No one has ever said, we want Steele.

If you are trying to fix apathy in your program by firing a decent coach, but stale. You DO NOT hire a assistant AARP member coordinator who has one of the most ridiculous HC records in America.

Well, I guess hiring Steele would fix apathy. No one would be apathetic, they'd be pissed.

frick Quinn but I actually think he would do much much better as a college head coach than the nfl. I think players would love to play for him and he would recruit well but the X’s and O’s Would be the problem.

I refuse to believe this. These guys are nothing more than professional gossips. They kiss up to the coach when they are in person for access (just listen to their post-game questions) but then turn right around and gossip behind his back for clicks.

It’s pretty sad actually that grown men do this for a profession.

Well it would explain why naming Steele wouldn't be announced before letter of intent day.

Ha. So true. They wouldn’t have a job if there weren’t demand for it.
