I’ll come out of my closet in favor of keeping him but that could change with a disastrous finish. I’m certainly not enthused about him in any way, but I have fear about what direction we would go next and I feel like Gus is close to being solid.

You are just saying shite. I have said on numerous occations that it is time to replace him. My main reason being the fanbase that you are going on and on about. You should read more and post less

Goose, you are the Auburn "guy" that most fan bases talk shite to Auburn about. The guy that would sell his soul to win. The fan that does not care about anything but win at any cost. Even the integrity of the school.
There is a reason that Auburn in general has had that stigma in the past. It is fans like yourself that dont think things through.

I dont think a big portion of the internet fan base would ever recover from him at this point which is why I think he should be replaced once it is financially possible and feasible. At some point, it will happen. Just a matter of making it work for the program

I try not to care about the internet fan base even though I’m very much a part of it. Most people I know in real life also aren’t thrilled with Gus but they aren’t always calling for his head.

Lanier and I neither one has said keep Gus. We have stated that the money and not a total disaster it’s almost impossible to get the money folks to fork out about 30 million for Gus and the assistants contracts. Both of us have said it’s time to move on but we don’t spend other folks money. Do
I think Gus is an embarrassment to AU? Am I embarrassed when Auburn plays? Absolutely not. Are we a laughingstock? Nope. We point out the most obvious issues of the program. Recruiting and what’s crazy is this staff is probably the best we’ve had. But we are a good bit behind LSU and not even on the planet with UGa and Bama.

And why would the dumbass Henry Von Dipshit go to the rant and post about Lanier and I. Some of you have some serious issues if football means that much to you. Guess being in the band in high school you dreamed of fulfilling some dreams watching college kids play a game.

Sounds like you be a better fit being a Vandy fan.

Everyone that visits this forum, has seen you endless posts, defending Gus and poo-pooing the idea of firing him. The only change you've had, is your reasoning. Hell, you are first person most think of when the term "Gus Defender" comes. Take that shite somewhere else, nobodies buying it.

I think the OP asked for comments from people that aren’t just “far Gus” constantly. We get it it’s time to change. My response is put your wallet where your mouth is and that goes for anyone saying fire Gus this season. And I predict next year ain’t looking to good either because Auburn will probably win 9 plus games. But y’all keep being so “embarrassed” by AU turn your fan cards in and gtfo.

Damn! That wall of text is something to behold! Calm down, Junior. Henry Von Dipshit didn't mean for you to have a stroke!

Your post has me a bit befuddled. You aren't embarrassed by getting beat by a really bad team, who fired their coach mid-season? You think this staff is the best we've ever had?

BTW, if you don't want him fired, then you are in favor of keeping him. And, just to burst your fantasy bubble, I played football and wrestled. I know a little about the competitive spirit and the want to win. What I've seen the last few years at Auburn, is complete ineptitude. A coach that hire's former players with no coaching experience, piss poor play calling, zero QB development, multiple losses to really bad teams, and the inability to recruit offensive linemen.

Surely your eyes work, and you can see that Auburn continues to digress every year we keep Gus. At some point, the bleeding has to stop. You and your ilk, are ok with keeping him and saying "the Birmingham Bowl is ok, just wait till next year."

Did you just invoke HS sports? Or were you a 2 sport college athlete?

Corch implied that I was in the band, and fantasied about playing. Just setting the record straight.

I’m not saying “give him more time because he’s close to turning things around.” Because yes, it is year 8, we aren’t at that point anymore. But I think any given year he’s in a spot where with the right breaks we are in the SEC title hunt.

Gus is what he is. A slightly above average coach at an solidly above average program.

I’m not one to invoke a next year attitude. Go back read before the season the predictions read what I also said. Junior year for Nix could possibly be the year to compete for SEC west and SEC championship. Because of youth and inexperience on the OL and DL.

I have continually said until we are able to recruit in the top 5 consistently we will be up and down with an opportunity to win the west about every 4-5 years, and win the conference about every 8-10 years.

Everyone that y’all call “Gus supporters” say the same thing. It takes recruiting because you can only scheme someone for only a certain number of games. Maybe you can catch a team every once in a while with a different approach but that’s not a long term solution. The only way to get to competing for championships every year is to recruit that what... and the “Gus supporters” see no one out there (outside of puking our guts out and holding our nose for someone like Meyer) that would drastically change the recruiting landscape for AU. It’s a simple built in disadvantage for AU.

Yes I get the look at what Bruce has done. Bruce only has to convince a couple kids each year. Not 25. Huge difference.

And no I’m never embarrassed by AU. Never by the coaches. Both players and staff work their asses off regardless of result. None want to lose and none ever quit. So all the hair on fire I’m so embarrassed group keep going yall good folks in my book just don’t take it so personal that someone disagrees with you.

Sorry Dude but you didn't answer the question. If you played in HS not a big deal as a lot of people played multiple sports in HS. If 2 sport in College different story. So HS or College?

I have offered a different view than just Fire the coach everytime you guys crank that narrative up. It is always been mostly guys like yourself and a few others who drop by when things are going bad and insert your comments. My view has always been that we need to balance the good and the bad. Not just the bad. Like it or not, Gus Malzahn has given Auburn some of its best moments in its entire history. It has not always been bad.

I could really care less what you "buy". My opinion has really never changed on this subject and probably wont unless the team totally falls apart. They will probably fire Malzahn due to the outside noise of keyboard jockeys like yourself. Will it be a good move? Time will tell but I still contend, its going to be tough to get another coach to bring the good like Malzahn did to a program that didnt sniff a championship in 50 years other than the years they were on probation
