I dont think they were forced. Harsin knew both. They both had connections to the SE. Logical choices for his first assistants.

I guess I should have been more clear. What I meant was that he was probably forced or strongly encouraged to get coordinators that were tied to the SEC.

It is showing that he wanted his own dudes. Any CEO that can, will move his own peeps into the new company to get things done the way he wants them done.

You can critique Harsin in many areas. Being forced to take certain individuals on his staff is not in his DNA. Greene or anyone else didn't tell Harsin to take Bobo. Unless someone can source that claim, I will take it as internet bullshite.

I think I clarified what I meant in the last post but maybe not. I didn't mean BOBO specifically but someone who was tied to the SEC. It does make sense to take Bobo as he coached against him.

Learned long ago ....If the coaches failed at other SEC Schools ......what in the hell gives anyone the impression they suddenly become giant killers somewhere else? Especially a combo failure offensively and defensively.

The experiment of past experience in the SEC is over ...Let's see what Harsins is capable of without any background help.

Kevin Steele would disagree with your assessment

Maybe a head coach to a head coach, but HC to coordinator, apples to oranges.

So Mason told the players he was burned out coaching and wanted to take a year off. 2 Days later hired as DC at Okie St.

Apparently so. Some of the players have tweeted about it.

So on top of his soft arse defense, he’s also a pussy that can’t be honest with his players? Glad he’s gone

He was just hired at OSU yesterday. That means he told the players that on Monday, well after he left Auburn. Maybe OSU sweetened the deal.

Just curious. What’s your point?

Maybe Mason did both....Got a good deal and is burned out and since they don't play great D in the Big 12 anyway he can relax a little more.

Im really conflicted on this:

On one hand, it is bad losing a coordinator to a lesser program in a lesser conference

On the other hand, why would the coordinator make that move unless it was the best choice he had, meaning nobody better wanted him

It will be interesting to see all this play out
